Job Description

Position: System Engineer (Electrical Project Engineer)

Location:

Tokyo, Japan

Working Hours:

9:00 AM – 5:15 PM (1-hour break)

Team Structure:

Team Size: 8 members

Reporting Line: Reports to Senior Management

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define electrical concepts, design, and specifications for assigned projects and tasks
  • Review customer requirements and prepare gap analysis documents
  • Provide electrical requirement specifications to vendors and verify circuit diagrams
  • Conduct technical risk assessments and propose mitigation plans
  • Evaluate new electrical components for customer projects
  • Support project managers with technical inputs, including integrated circuit diagrams and safety concepts
  • Provide technical support for sales activities and assist in vendor management
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders (sales, procurement, logistics, service teams)
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously at different stages
  • Participate as a key team member in ongoing engineering projects

Project duration typically ranges from 12 to 24 months from initial quotation to final delivery.

Travel Requirements:

  • Domestic travel: Approximately once per month
  • International travel: Approximately once per year

Requirements:

Must Have:

  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic circuit design (IEC / JIS standards)
  • Knowledge of PLC programming (ladder logic creation and analysis)
  • Experience in power systems (generation, transmission, or distribution)
  • Strong foundation in mathematics and physics
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Good teamwork and communication skills

Good to Have:

  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems
  • Experience in developing new technologies or improving existing systems
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as oscilloscope, multimeter, and soldering equipment
  • Ability to break down complex tasks into manageable workflows
  • Experience with electrical design software (EPLAN preferred)
  • Knowledge of risk assessment tools (e.g., SafeExpert)
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment or automation systems
  • Project management experience

  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills

Education and Language:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Japanese Language: JLPT N3 or above (Mandatory)
  • English: Intermediate or above

Technical Skills:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • CAD tools
  • ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Basic understanding of industrial safety and process systems

Salary:

  • ¥5,000,000 – ¥8,000,000 per year
  • (Negotiable based on experience and skills)
