DESCRIPTION:
Join us at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Systems Administrator II! In this role, you'll contribute to maintaining and optimizing our enterprise systems and infrastructure. You'll ensure system reliability, implement security measures, and support our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. Working with advanced technologies including cloud platforms, virtualization, and enterprise applications, you'll collaborate with teams to deliver excellent technical solutions and support. Manage application/tools implementations and/or configurations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the technical and/or functional SME for assigned applications.
  • Apply the full system development life cycle methodology to craft, build, test, and support solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with business partners to gather and document project requirements.
  • Lead the development of solutions to address customer issues.
  • Work with technical teams to craft solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Keep project managers informed about the status of development efforts and act as a liaison between development staff and project managers.
  • Build and implement development plans, adjusting as necessary to meet evolving needs.
  • Be involved in the development lifecycle, managing technical risks throughout the project.
  • Work closely w/ other technical resources within budget and project schedules.
  • Deliver high-quality services to clients.
  • Communicate complex topics in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Collaborate with IT staff to ensure project delivery.
  • Maintain a strong results orientation and proficiency in problem solving.

REQUIREMENTS:
. Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of experience in enterprise systems administration and infrastructure/application support
. Preferred Fields of Study: Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field
. Advanced technical certifications preferred (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMware, MCSE, SAP)
. Expertise/knowledge in Windows Server administration and infrastructure management
. Experience/knowledge in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
. Experience/Knowledge with backup systems, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
. Knowledge of networking concepts, DNS, DHCP, and security protocols
. Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages
. Experience with ITSM tools like ServiceNow for incident and change management
. Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis
. Strong documentation and technical writing skills
. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for working with diverse teams
. Available for rotating on-call and emergency support as needed
. GxP/FDA regulated environment experience preferred
. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects
. Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices
. Strong problem-solving abilities
