The IBM AS/400 (IBM i) Operations Analyst is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and support of the AS/400 environment, with a primary focus on ensuring the success of nightly backup processes, maintaining system integrity, and providing security administration. This role also includes providing timely fulfillment of application-level security access for the Infor BPCS system.
- 5+ years of working as an AS/400 (IBM i) Operations Analyst or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with backup solutions (e.g., BRMS and/or ROBOT) and recovery procedures
- Strong knowledge of IBM AS/400 job management, system commands (CL), and troubleshooting techniques
- Experience administering user security (profiles, authorities, object-level security)
- Experience with tape libraries and backup hardware management
- Familiarity with BPCS or similar ERP systems preferred
- Good communication, interpersonal skills, and a team player
- Proficiency in English language required
- Perform Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End processing activities.
- Monitor and ensure successful completion of nightly backup jobs using BRMS, ROBOT, or equivalent backup tools
- Review backup logs, job queues, and system messages to proactively identify and resolve failures
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures for recurring issues
- Escalate complex issues to appropriate teams or vendors as needed
- Process and manage user access requests within IBM i and BPCS environments
- Create, modify, and remove user profiles, ensuring compliance with security policies
- Provide operational support for the BPCS (Business Planning and Control System) application
- Troubleshoot user-reported issues related to BPCS processing and access
- Maintain operational procedures, runbooks, and backup documentation
- Ensure adherence to IT security policies, compliance standards, and audit requirements
