System Administrator

A system administrator's job description (JD) focuses on maintaining and supporting a company's computer systems, including installing and configuring hardware and software, managing user accounts and permissions, and ensuring system security through updates and monitoring. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting technical issues, performing data backups, and providing technical support to employees.  

Core responsibilities

• System maintenance: Install, upgrade, and configure computer hardware, software, and operating systems. 
• User support: Provide technical assistance to employees, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and manage help desk tickets. 
• Security: Apply security updates and patches, monitor security logs, and help implement and maintain security policies. 
• Backup and recovery: Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans, and perform regular backup tests. 
• Network and infrastructure: Manage internal networks, file systems, and servers, and ensure the smooth operation of IT infrastructure. 
• Documentation: Maintain up-to-date IT asset inventories and create internal documentation. 
• Performance monitoring: Proactively monitor system health and performance to prevent outages.
