Role Overview
We are looking for a highly technical and hands-on Principal SDET/SDET Architect to lead quality engineering initiatives across enterprise-scale products and platforms.
This role is intended for engineers with strong software development foundations and is not aligned to traditional manual QA or support-oriented testing backgrounds.
The ideal candidate should come from a strong development background with deep expertise in automation engineering, backend systems, APIs, distributed architectures, cloud-native platforms, and modern quality engineering practices.
The candidate should be capable of operating at the same technical depth as software engineers and architects while driving quality engineering strategy across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and build scalable automation platforms for UI, API, integration, and backend testing.
- Design testing strategies for distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native applications.
- Develop high-quality automation frameworks and reusable engineering tooling using Java and modern testing frameworks.
- Drive shift-left quality engineering practices across the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership, architects, DevOps, and platform teams to improve
reliability, scalability, and release quality.
- Build automation solutions integrated with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment environments.
- Lead API, backend, integration, and service-level validation strategies.
- Contribute to architecture and design discussions from scalability, reliability, and testability perspectives.
- Improve engineering productivity through framework standardization, automation infrastructure, and quality tooling.
- Mentor SDETs and engineers on automation architecture, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
- Drive engineering quality metrics, defect prevention strategies, and automation maturity across teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, SDET, or quality engineering roles.
- Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, OOPs, concurrency, and system design.
- Strong hands-on programming expertise in Java.
- Deep expertise in Selenium WebDriver, automation framework architecture, and test engineering.
- Strong experience in API automation and backend testing.
- Experience working with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation integration.
- Hands-on experience with tools and technologies such as JUnit, TestNG, Rest Assured, Jenkins, Git,
Docker, Kubernetes, Maven/Gradle, etc.
- Ability to write clean, scalable, maintainable, production-grade automation code.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in enterprise SaaS or AI/ML-driven product organizations.
- Exposure to performance engineering, observability, and reliability engineering practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Prior experience driving organization-wide quality engineering initiatives.
What Were Looking For
We value engineers who think like software developers first and quality engineers second. The ideal candidate should be capable of building engineering-grade automation platforms, challenging system designs, improving reliability, and driving scalable engineering quality practices across complex enterprise applications.
