Switching Engineer

ob Description:  

---Understand, analyze customer use cases, feature requests, enhancement from Product owners and other teams.   

---Author and publish a Architecture and Design document depending on the complexity of the problem and review it with the team of stake holders.  

---Implement the software using C and/or Go Lang.  

---Write and enhance unit test cases typically in Go Lang. 

---Automate and enhance test cases using Python in the CICD framework.

---Troubleshoot and Fix problems reported by customers and test engineering.  

---Review and provide feedback to documents and code authored by other engineers.

---Deliver Software with high quality, debug-ability and serviceability. 

---Demonstrate high energy, ownership and great collaboration skills to complete your job responsibilities while working with the team.  

Work Experience:

---7-15+ years After initial ramp up, Senior Engineers are expected to operate independently with minimal supervision or help from Managers and help from other senior engineers.  

---Junior Engineers are expected to operate open under the technical guidance and supervision of senior engineers and managers.  

Technical Skills and Experience:

--Strong programming skills in C/C++; Python and Go are highly desirable. 

---Strong Linux System Software Development experience, including multi-core, multiprocess, multi-threading and distributed system design.

---Ethernet Switching & Networking: Hands-on software development experience with IPv4/IPv6 forwarding, L2/L3 switching, VLAN, FDB, RIB, FIB, ARP, Next Hop, LAG, ACL, PBR, DHCP, QoS and L2/L3 Multicast..

---Routing & Tunneling: Experience with OSPF, BGP, PIM and overlay/tunneling technologies including GRE, NVGRE, VXLAN and IPsec. 

---Network Security: Experience with MACsec, IPsec, NAC (802.1X, MAC Authentication, RADIUS/Certificate-based Authentication), Firewall and IDS/IPS. 

---Switch/Router Software Development: Experience with Network Processor ASIC-based data paths or software data paths such as VPP. 

---Switch ASIC & Hardware : Hands-on experience with Broadcom ICOS, Marvell Prestera or Teralynx switch ASICs, including switch hardware bring- up, debugging and performance optimization. 

---SONiC & SAI: Experience in SONiC network operating system development and integration, SAI (Switch Abstraction Interface) and vendor SDK integration.  

---Interface & Hardware Technologies: Experience with logical and physical interfaces, including Copper, Fiber, MAC, PHY and SFP, along with Power over Ethernet (PoE). 

---Software Technologies:  Knowledge of gRPC, Google Protocol Buffers, JSON and Redis DB is a big plus.  

---Debugging & Troubleshooting: Strong experience in debugging and resolving customer and production issues, with a focus on software quality, performance and reliability.
