Job Description

Singlife is the exclusive insurance provider for the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs and Public Officers Group Insurance Scheme. Singlife is also an official signatory of the United Nations Principles for Sustainable Insurance and the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment, affirming its commitment to finding a better way to sustainability.

The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan's leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

Key Appointments

· This role is accountable for the end-to-end actuarial pricing strategy and financial performance of the High Net Worth (HNW) segment. It provides strategic leadership across HNW product design and pricing, underwriting philosophy, portfolio sustainability, emerging risks and capital optimisation, ensuring alignment with the company's growth, profitability, and risk appetite.

· The role also leads a team of actuarial professionals and partners closely with Product, Distribution, Underwriting, Finance, and Risk to deliver differentiated and profitable HNW solutions. As a core member of the HNW squad led by the HNW business, the role works within a cross-functional team comprising representatives from multiple functions to drive the end-to-end HNW strategy and customer proposition.

Key Responsibilities

Pricing Strategy & Product Leadership

· Define and drive the HNW pricing strategy, balancing competitiveness, profitability, and risk appetite.

· Lead the development and governance of pricing frameworks, models, and methodologies for HNW life and wealth solutions including Indexed Universal Life (IUL), Investment-Linked (ILP), Participating, protection, wealth accumulation, and other complex life insurance products.

· Provide strategic direction on product features, premium structures, and underwriting limits tailored to affluent and HNW clients ensuring competitiveness, profitability, and alignment with risk appetite..

· Engage with traditional and asset intensive reinsurers to secure competitive and sustainable reinsurance support for HNW business, including underwriting capacity, facultative arrangements, customised pricing solutions, and product development initiatives.

· Monitor competitor developments and market trends in the Affluent and HNW segments, recommending strategic actions to enhance Singlife's market positioning.

· Approve pricing decisions for large or complex cases with the established escalation and approval framework and new product launches.

Financial Performance & Portfolio Management

· Own the profit emergence, value creation and long-term sustainability of the HNW portfolio through proactive monitoring of business mix, experience trends, pricing adequacy and management actions.

· Drive timely corrective actions to safeguard profitability and optimize capital efficiency including optimisation of reinsurance strategies and capital allocation.

· Lead the monitoring and management of crediting rates, participation rates and related performance metrics, partnering closely with the Investment Office on asset strategy and investment decisions to optimise profitability, customer value and financial performance for Affluent and HNW products, particularly indexed and wealth accumulation solutions.

Risk, Reserving & Governance Oversight

· Ensure all actuarial practices comply with MAS, SAS and LIA requirements and internal governance frameworks.

· Set guidelines for risk selection, pricing adjustments, and portfolio exposure limits.

· Provide actuarial oversight and challenge on material underwriting, pricing and product risks in line with the company's risk management framework.

· Represent actuarial in governance forums, product committees, and risk discussions.

Strategic Stakeholder Engagement

· Serve as a trusted advisor to business heads, and distribution leaders on HNW growth strategy.

· Translate actuarial insights into clear commercial decisions and strategic actions.

· Lead engagement with traditional and asset intensive reinsurers on HNW products and complex cases.

· Represent Actuarial Pricing in engagements with distribution partners, including brokers, private banks, and financial advisors, providing expertise on product design, pricing, underwriting requirements, complex case structuring and commercial proposals.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

· Build and lead a high-performing actuarial pricing team, including talent development and succession planning.

· Champion the adoption of AI, advanced analytics and digital capabilities to enhance pricing effectiveness, underwriting insights, distributor support, portfolio monitoring and operational efficiency.

· Establish strong actuarial governance, review standards, and model validation practices.

· Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement in pricing analytics.

Key Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline.

· Actuarial qualification (e.g., FIA, FSA, ASA, or equivalent) preferred.

· 10-15+ years of actuarial experience, including leadership roles.

· Deep expertise in life insurance pricing, HNW products, capital management, and reinsurance

· Strong track record in leading product strategy and delivering financial outcomes.
