Job Description

  • Lead the architecture vision for foundational systems, with a focus on scalability, resilience, and security.
  • Innovate, tackle technical debt and modernize legacy components, ensuring architectural integrity is preserved.
  • Define and implement architecture standards, patterns, and guardrails across engineering teams.
  • Bring hands-on experience from having scaled a technology platform from mid-stage startup to large enterprise.
  • Apply lessons learned from real-world scaling challenges - performance bottlenecks, compliance demands, re-platforming, and team growth.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML, serverless, advanced analytics) and assess their architectural fit.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams to enhance their skillsets.

The Successful Applicant

A successful SVP Engineering should have:

  • 15+ years of software engineering & architecture experience, with expertise in Java, Kotlin (optional), Python, and cloud-native microservices.
  • Proven history of scaling a platform from mid-stage to enterprise scale in a complex domain (fintech preferred).
  • Strong understanding of AWS, serverless architecture, microservices, and architecture frameworks.
  • Demonstrated leadership through influence, with the ability to inspire teams with/out formal authority.
  • Ability to design for compliance, security, and high availability in regulated industries.
