About SUVAS

SUVAS (Supreme Court Vidhik Anuvaad Software) is an AI-powered tool developed by the Indian Supreme Court to translate judgments and legal documents into various regional languages, promoting accessibility, with ongoing efforts to translate older rulings and new e-SCR judgments, overseen by committees to vet accuracy and improve the tool for broader use in High Courts across India.

Role Description

This is an remote, part-time role for an Translation of legal documents. The Legal Translator will work on translating various types of documents, texts, and digital content from English to hindi, urdu etc and vice versa while ensuring accuracy and maintaining cultural and contextual relevance. Additional responsibilities include proofreading, editing translations for language quality, and collaborating with team members to meet deadlines. The role may also involve assisting with refining the translation processes and tools used by the company.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Hindi and English language translation, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding nuances in both languages
• Strong proofreading and editing skills to ensure grammatical accuracy and cultural appropriateness
• Familiarity with digital translation tools or language-processing technologies
• Capability to work under tight deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation Studies, or related fields is preferred
• Prior experience in translation or working with multilingual platforms is advantageous
