About the Team and the Role:
The VDC engineering team at Ather is responsible for the design and development of vehicle dynamics components, ensuring superior ride quality and handling.
This role is for a Suspension Engineer who will lead the integration and technical evaluation of suspension systems and tyres for Ather's vehicle platforms.
Responsibilities
- Manage supplier coordination for the seamless integration of suspension systems and tyres into product platforms.
- Execute detailed engineering drawings according to industry standards and manage the technical release process.
- Author comprehensive technical requirements and specifications for tyres and suspension systems.
- Lead concept generation and option evaluation based on vendor inputs and architectural constraints.
- Develop and execute innovative test plans and Design Verification Plans (DVP) to reflect real-world use cases.
- Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for internal cross-functional teams and external technical partners.
- Conduct root cause analysis using Pareto charts, Ishikawa, and 5-Why methods to resolve field and assembly issues.
- Implement Interaction FMEAs and adhere to the Design Maturity Model to ensure robust product development.
Experience and Qualifications:
- B.Tech/B.E/M.Tech/M.E. or equivalent with specialization in Mechanical, Machine Design, or Vehicle Dynamics.
- 4-7 years of relevant experience in suspension design and vehicle dynamics.
Must Have Competencies:
- Expertise in suspension system architecture and tyre technology specifically for two-wheeler applications.
- Proficiency in suspension sizing, selection, and integration within tight vehicle packaging constraints.
- Application of Design for Excellence (DFx) principles for suspension components and assembly.
- Knowledge of relevant quality standards and homologation requirements for vehicle suspension and tyres.
Good to Have Competencies:
- Practical experience in Vehicle Dynamics testing and validation procedures.
- Competency in performing Interaction Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Skilled in using root cause analysis tools like Pareto charts and Ishikawa diagrams for design troubleshooting.
- Ability to define End of Line (EOL) requirements for vendor manufacturing processes.
