Job Description
The
Support Engineer Structure provides technical, coordination, and monitoring support to the Structural Lead/Resident Engineer. The role ensures that structural works at the site are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, safety norms, and project schedules. This position is a key link between the PMC team, contractors, consultants, and client for structural engineering deliverables
Responsibilities
- Report to Construction Manager/Area Manager on daily basis. Carry out regular site inspection and test, monitor, observe and review contractor activities, procedure/practices for quality, health & safety.
- Review and understand structural drawings, GFCs, method statements, bar-bending schedules (BBS), and material specifications.
- Assist in verifying shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submissions before forwarding to the Architectural/Structural consultants.
- Ensure latest revisions of drawings and technical documents are available and implemented at site.
- Maintain structured records of all structural engineering documentation, NCRs, test reports, and inspection logs.
- Conduct daily site inspections of structural works (excavation, foundation, RCC, steel structures, formwork, shuttering, reinforcement, concrete pouring, curing, etc.) and report deviations.
- Verify reinforcement fixing, formwork quality, cover blocks, embedment and alignment as per drawings & specification.
- Monitor concrete production, slump tests, cube sampling, and placement to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Report any non-conformance immediately and follow up on corrective actions with contractor teams.
- Ensure adherence to approved method statements and ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans).
- Track daily/weekly progress of structural activities against the baseline project schedule.
- Ensure structural works follow safety guidelines, especially during:
- Excavation and shoring
- Working at heights
- Heavy lifting (Concrete buckets, reinforcement's bundle, shuttering systems)
- Reinforcement and concrete operations
- Report unsafe conditions and ensure immediate corrective actions through contractor HSE team.
- Verify structural materials received at site (cement, steel reinforcement, shuttering materials, structural steel, admixtures, etc.) as per QA/QC requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager/supervisor.
- Attending Inspection request, Issuing Site Instruction & NCR, Re-viewing method statements, Evaluation of construction progress and witnessing test. Familiar with the construction of Post tensioned Beams and Slab. Coordination of Architectural /Structural drawings.
- Planning ahead to prevent problems and resolving any emerging ones. Ensuring quality construction standards and using proper construction techniques. Driving handing over process to Client.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree/ Diploma in Engineering/ BSc in related field
- Proven experience as a Site Structural Engineer with 8+ years of overall experience with High Rise/ buildings including Residential/ Commercial/ Hotels/ International schools/ Institutional Building etc.
