Job Title: Supply Chain Management (SCM) Manager Fabrication & Heavy Fabrication

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SCM Manager with a strong background in fabrication and heavy fabrication industries. The role is responsible for end-to-end supply chain management including steel procurement, vendor development, inventory control, logistics coordination, and driving cost optimization initiatives. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in managing structural steel, plates, pipes, and heavy fabrication raw materials.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Steel Procurement
Manage procurement of structural steel, plates, coils and heavy fabrication materials ensuring cost efficiency, quality compliance, and timely availability.
Vendor Development & Negotiation
Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers; lead commercial negotiations to secure competitive pricing, favorable payment terms, and long-term rate contracts.
Inventory Planning & Control
Implement effective inventory management systems to maintain optimum stock levels, reduce carrying costs, and prevent stock-outs or overstocking.
Cost Reduction Initiatives
Drive continuous cost-saving projects through bulk buying, alternate sourcing, process improvements, value engineering, and waste reduction strategies.
Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
Coordinate with production and project teams to forecast material requirements based on fabrication schedules and project timelines.
Supply Chain Optimization
Improve end-to-end supply chain efficiency by reducing lead times, improving order cycles, and strengthening logistics planning.
Heavy Fabrication Material Handling
Oversee storage, handling, and dispatch of heavy steel materials ensuring safety, traceability, and compliance with quality standards.
Logistics & Transportation Management
Manage inbound and outbound logistics including freight negotiation, transporter management, and route optimization to control freight costs.
MIS & Reporting
Prepare and present SCM performance reports including procurement savings, inventory turnover ratio, supplier performance, and cost analysis.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure procurement compliance with company policies, audit requirements, contractual obligations, and risk mitigation in raw material sourcing.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering or MBA in Supply Chain / Operations.
15 years of experience in SCM within fabrication or heavy fabrication industry.
Strong knowledge of steel grades, fabrication materials, and market pricing trends.
Proven experience in inventory optimization and cost reduction strategies.
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle or equivalent).
Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
