Manager Supply Chain (BESS Manufacturing Core Components)
Location: Valsad (Manufacturing Plant)
Experience: 6 - 10 years
Reporting to: SCM Lead BESS Manufacturing
Role Objective
Execute supply chain operations for core BESS manufacturing components, supporting China-based sourcing in the initial phase and localization to Indian vendors, while ensuring uninterrupted production, quality compliance, and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Component Sourcing
- Manage sourcing of:
- Battery cells
- BMS, modules/packs, racks
- Busbars, fuses, contactors
- Coordinate with Engineering and QA for cell and component qualification.
- Manage long-lead and production-critical components.
2. China Supplier Coordination
- Handle day-to-day coordination with Chinese suppliers:
- PO placement, shipment tracking, delivery adherence
- Export documentation, UN38.3, MSDS, DG compliance
- Support supplier audits and qualification visits (virtual or physical).
- Track pricing trends and commercial reconciliations.
3. Localization Execution
- Support transition of components from China to Indian suppliers:
- Trial orders and pilot runs
- Quality tracking and corrective actions
- Documentation and vendor approval processes
- Maintain dual-source continuity during transition phases.
4. Production Planning & Material Readiness
- Execute MRP-based procurement aligned with weekly and monthly production plans.
- Track material availability vs manufacturing schedules.
- Coordinate with production teams to resolve shortages or bottlenecks.
- Manage optimal cell inventory levels, balancing degradation risk and safety stock.
5. Costing & VA/VE Support
- Prepare component-level cost breakdowns for packs and systems.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives through VA/VE, localization, and alternates.
- Track landed cost including duties, freight, and handling.
6. Quality & Supplier Performance
- Support incoming quality inspections and supplier corrective actions.
- Track OTIF, rejection rates, and issue resolution timelines.
- Maintain compliance documentation for audits and certifications.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Hands-on experience in battery / EV / BESS manufacturing SCM
- Exposure to China sourcing and India localization
- Strong coordination with production, QA, and engineering teams
- Detail-oriented and execution-driven
