Job Description
Role Summary / Job Purpose
The Senior Manager – Global Supply Chain & Depot Operations owns the operational performance, standards, capacity and controllable costs of AVASO's global depot network. The role ensures reliable warehouse execution, inventory integrity, secure asset handling, logistics coordination and customer-specific operational SLA compliance across owned and third-party locations.
The role leads distributed teams, manages operational budgets within delegated authority, develops network capacity and drives quality, WMS governance and continuous improvement. It works within AVASO's end-to-end service delivery framework: SCM is accountable for depot execution and readiness; the Global Services Organisation (GSO) retains accountability for applicable client service commitments and technical solution design. Strategic procurement and commercial pricing are outside this role's primary scope.
Key Responsibilities
A. Global Depot & Warehouse Operations
- Own daily depot performance, site readiness, staffing coverage, physical controls, storage effectiveness and safe working practices across the global network.
- Govern receipt, inspection, put-away, storage, picking, staging, packing, dispatch, returns and backlog, ensuring timely and accurate fulfilment.
- Apply consistent operating standards across owned and partner sites while meeting approved client-specific work instructions and service levels.
B. Inventory Governance, Asset Custody & Loss Prevention
- Ensure inventory accuracy, serial-level movement traceability and documented custody of customer assets through receipt, storage, transfer and disposition.
- Enforce cycle counts, reconciliations and controlled WMS stock adjustments; investigate variances, loss, damage and unauthorized movement.
- Own depot incident reporting and corrective action; coordinate evidence, claims, insurance support and recoveries with authorized functions.
C. IT Asset Lifecycle, Security & ITAD
- Govern staging, imaging, configuration, kitting, repair coordination, testing, refresh, return, grading, refurbishment and ITAD execution within approved scopes.
- Enforce controlled data erasure, verification evidence, certificates, disposal approvals, chain-of-custody records and compliant vendor handovers.
- Ensure customer and information-security requirements are documented and exceptions are escalated promptly.
D. Logistics & Cross-Border Movements
- Oversee shipment planning, domestic and international movements, courier collection, tracking, proof of delivery and shipment-exception recovery.
- Coordinate IOR/EOR, customs and shipping documentation with trade specialists and approved partners; control avoidable freight and expedite costs.
E. Global Team Leadership & Resource Management
- Lead regional depot personnel and central operations teams; set priorities, coach managers and enforce performance ownership and training compliance.
- Manage schedules, deployment of approved resources, productivity and contingencies; propose structural headcount changes through the approval process.
F. GSO Interface, Depot SLAs & Customer Escalations
- Remain accountable for depot operational SLAs and corrective actions; alert GSO/Service Delivery early when depot failures threaten end-to-end commitments.
- Lead depot investigations, recovery execution and root-cause actions; coordinate customer-facing commitments and communications through the authorized service owners.
- Provide operational feasibility, dependencies and delivery evidence for GSO-led solutions, transitions and service reviews.
G. Service Catalogue & Operational Standards
- Align every depot service to approved AVASO Service Catalogue items, scope, SOPs, standard processing times, quality acceptance criteria and completion evidence.
- Control deviations from standard workflows and partner with GSO on feasibility and readiness for new or modified depot service capabilities.
H. Financial Performance & Cost-to-Serve
- Manage controllable depot operating expenditure within approved budgets; review variances, unit costs and productivity with Finance and SCM leadership.
- Monitor cost per device, repair, shipment and storage unit, plus overtime, rework, freight premiums, losses and obsolete-stock exposure.
- Deliver quantified efficiency improvements; exclude commercial pricing, customer margins and negotiated procurement rates outside delegated control.
I. Global Depot Network Strategy & Demand Capacity
- Maintain rolling volume forecasts and resource/capacity plans informed by live demand, new client pipeline, service transitions and regional coverage needs.
- Assess site utilization, geographic coverage, network bottlenecks, consolidation, expansion and make-or-buy / 3PL options; propose business cases for approval.
J. WMS, Master Data & Systems Integration
- Own WMS transaction accuracy, approved asset master-data controls, asset statuses, locations and standardised operational reporting.
- Reconcile key records across WMS, FFA/ServiceNow, order-management and ERP systems; work with IT on API integrations and exception controls.
K. Third-Party Depot, Logistics & ITAD Governance
- Set approved operating expectations for 3PL, logistics and ITAD partners, including SLAs, security obligations and required delivery/erasure evidence.
- Maintain partner scorecards, performance reviews and risk-based audits; coordinate remediation, vendor escalations and continuity alternatives.
L. Quality, Operational Risk, OHS & Business Continuity
- Implement standard depot audits, physical security, health and safety checks, corrective-action tracking and controls over asset and data exposure.
- Maintain documented depot contingency, recovery and alternative fulfilment arrangements; periodically test readiness and escalate material risks.
M. Transitions & Capability Readiness
- Lead SCM workstreams for depot launches, relocation, client transitions and new services, covering space, systems, staffing, SOPs and acceptance gates.
- Coordinate readiness with GSO, Field Services, Facilities, IT, Finance and HR without independently changing client contractual commitments.
N. Performance Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain a defined global depot scorecard, review performance monthly, assign corrective-action owners and escalate material deviations.
- Use Lean/Kaizen, process automation and data-led investigation to reduce handling time, errors, repeated incidents and cost-to-serve.
