Your role and responsibilities

In this role, manages operational supplier quality, both on-site and off-site, ensuring the thorough execution of supplier qualification and development processes. Oversee the execution of supplier assessments, coordinating both corrective and preventive actions based on supplier maturity and performance levels. Manages the supplier's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

This role is contributing to the ABB India, Electrification Business Smart Power Division in India. will be based at Nelamangala - Bangalore - India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Increase supplier quality awareness by promoting a Zero Defect culture and supporting incoming quality control activities to ensure process reliability.

  • Plan and conduct supplier audits, assessments, and root cause analysis while supporting process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Evaluate supplier performance by providing constructive feedback and conducting monthly/quarterly supplier performance reviews and assessment processes.

  • Collaborate with sourcing teams for new supplier assessment, qualification, and PPAP approval of new parts in line with ABB quality requirements.

  • Work closely with commercial, engineering, and manufacturing teams to enhance supplier quality systems, improve delivery performance, and ensure continual compliance with ABB standards.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Proficient knowledge and practical experience in Quality Tools such as SPC, MSA, FMEA, PPAP, CAPA, and 8D for quality control and problem-solving activities.

  • Proficient in Statistical Process Control methodologies with Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and continuous improvement experience.

  • Good understanding of assembly processes, manufacturing engineering, special purpose machines (SPMs), welding, plating, and lean manufacturing practices.

  • Well-versed in SAP, ISO 9001:2015 standards, and quality management system requirements.

  • Working knowledge of IEC/IS standards related to switchgear and control gear products and applications.

  • Experience working with switchgear and control gear systems, plus some exposure to molding and stamping operations, would be beneficial.

  • Engineering Graduate/Diploma (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical or Tool & Die Making with minimum 5 years of relevant experience, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
