The Role
As a Charging Quality Assurance Engineer, you will report directly to the Director of Charging Systems. In this role, you will ensure that Zeno's charging systems, including battery swap stations, charging stations, and home charging solutions, meet the highest standards for quality, safety, and reliability. You will lead quality assurance efforts across the charging ecosystem, from design and testing to deployment and ongoing support. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong technical background in charging systems and a passion for delivering exceptional products.
What You Will Do
- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance framework for Zeno's charging systems, including batteries, charging stations, and home energy docks.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to define and enforce quality standards and drawings and specifications for charging components and systems.
- Analyze quality data, including test results, field performance metrics, and system diagnostics, to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure incoming components and assembled systems meet Zeno's quality standards.
- Drive the resolution of quality issues, coordinating cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Qualifying new tooling, fixturing, and equipment
- Manage test equipment for contract manufactures
- Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to insure processes are capable and have sufficient controls in place to meet the highest quality standards & requirements
- Kaizen facilitator, supporting culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization using Lean and Six Sigma principals
- Knowledge in circuit board production [PCBA] and Sheet metal fabrication
- Knowledge in Electrical Assembly, harness assemblies
- Influencing product designs to ensure reliable manufacturing
- Developing new or improved manufacturing and testing processes that are necessary to achieve the quality requirements for target operation life
- Qualifying high mix, low volume, short lead time assembly/test equipment
- Setting up sample lines and process development of new equipment
- Work with lean manufacturing tools and principals eliminating waste
- Validate compliance with industry standards and certifications for electrical safety, EMI/EMC, and interoperability of charging systems.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of quality processes, test results, and improvement initiatives to support compliance and continuous improvement efforts.
What You Bring
- 4-8 years of experience in quality assurance or a related role in charging systems, power electronics, or the EV industry.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and best practices, including root cause analysis, FMEA, and Six Sigma principles. Experience of APQP, PPAP, 8D and ISO standards & Frameworks
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and the ability to work closely with suppliers and assembly partners.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, with the ability to use data to drive quality improvements.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work across functions and with external partners.
- A proactive and detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality products.

Preferred Skill-sets
- Experience with EV charging systems, including swappable battery solutions and DC fast chargers.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards, quality and certifications related to EV charging manufacturing, deployment and contract manufacturing
- Familiarity with the challenges of ensuring quality in emerging markets, including considerations for infrastructure and environmental factors.
- Experience at an EV or charging startup is not required but highly preferred.
