Job Purpose
To ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical systems, including a 110 kV substation, while actively supporting Reliability Pillar initiatives to enhance equipment uptime, minimize breakdowns, and drive continuous improvement in overall plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
Substation Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee operation and preventive maintenance of 110 kV / HT / LT systems and associated equipment.
- Monitor transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protection relays, and control systems.
- Ensure timely inspections, condition monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Reliability Pillar (WCM)– Core Responsibilities
- Drive Reliability Pillar initiatives to improve equipment availability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Lead and support Preventive Maintenance , Predictive Maintenance , and Condition-Based Maintenance programs.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis for major electrical failures using tools like Why-Why Analysis, Fishbone, etc.
- Identify and eliminate repetitive failures through structured improvement plans.
- Participate in Focused Improvement projects to enhance reliability and reduce losses.
- Support Autonomous Maintenance by training operators on basic electrical checks and early failure identification.
- Coordination of condition monitoring activities (thermography, Transformer DGA, insulation testing, etc.).
Breakdown & Incident Management
- Lead electrical breakdown response to ensure minimal production disruption.
- Perform failure analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, statutory requirements, and EHS guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to LOTO procedures, permit-to-work systems, etc.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for regulatory compliance .
Team Supervision & Capability Building
- Collaborate with the team for maintenance and project activities.
- Build team capability through technical training and reliability-focused skill development etc.
- Promote a culture of proactive maintenance and zero breakdown mindset.
Energy & Performance Optimization
- Monitor energy consumption, load patterns, and prepare the documents in line with ISO 50001 requirements.
- Support initiatives for energy efficiency and cost optimization.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Coordinate effectively with vendors and contractors to execute maintenance activities and drive reliability improvement initiatives.
- Ensure high standards of quality and safety while achieving timely execution of all scheduled work.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain reliability KPI data, ensuring effective utilization of maintenance software systems.
- Preparation of EHS documentation, monitor KPIs, and generate monthly report
