Job Description
The Senior Engineer in the NDT Inspection department plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and quality of products through meticulous non-destructive testing (NDT. processes. This position requires a deep understanding of metrology, quality management systems, and total quality management (TQM. to maintain high standards of inspection. The engineer will be responsible for the smooth operation and calibration of NDT equipment, ensuring that all testing activities adhere to approved work instructions and process charts. The role demands a proactive approach to continuous improvement, aiming to enhance efficiency and quality from NDT stations. The Senior Engineer will also coordinate with shift managers and workshops to address resource and administrative issues, prepare calibration documentation, and ensure traceability throughout the inspection process. Safety is paramount, and the engineer must ensure compliance with safety norms and maintain general housekeeping in all NDT station areas. This role requires a global mindset, business acumen, and people excellence to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, including assisting during customer visits and inquiries.
Principal Accountabilities
Ensure the smooth functioning of NDT equipment by maintaining the status of consumables for all NDT stations and issuing materials from the storebr Ensure timely shiftwise calibration of NDT equipment and review the records to maintain accuracy and reliabilitybr Follow and document regular machine checkpoints to ensure effective utilization of machines achieving desired output without compromising quality and safetybr Coordinate with shift managers for resources and administrative issues to ensure seamless operationsbr Prepare for calibration and documentation by reviewing documents from all stations and submitting final reports to the record room or NDT headbr Coordinate with the workshop for preparing calibration platessamples and assist in changeover settingsbr Ensure all testing activities are performed as per approved work instructions and process charts maintaining traceability of pipesplates throughout the inspection processbr Review rework pipe reports to ensure that pipes have been processed through intended stationsbr Work on continuous improvement plans to increase efficiency and quality from NDT stations reporting any downtime to the shift managerbr Continuously monitor process defects identified by NDT and provide feedback to productionwelding for immediate corrective actionbr Initiate corrective and preventive actions closing nonconformance reports generated by quality control while maintaining productivity with qualitybr Assist the NDT headQC head during customer visits demonstrations and inquiriesbr Follow safety norms during work ensuring general housekeeping in all NDT station areas and adherence to safe work practicesbr Ensure NDT equipment is set as per procedure and conduct preventive maintenance of all NDT machines
