Role Overview
The Subreddit Growth Strategist will own the end-to-end growth and engagement strategy for Loch's Reddit presence. Working closely with the marketing and content teams, this role is responsible for building an active, high-quality subreddit community, driving subscriber growth, and maintaining a healthy, moderated environment that reflects the organisation's values.
This is a platform-native role: the successful candidate will be a genuine Reddit user with a deep understanding of community culture, content dynamics, and what drives meaningful engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Own subscriber and Monthly Active User (MAU) growth targets; develop and execute a rolling content and engagement calendar.
- Seed high-quality posts, initiate discussions, and actively participate in threads as an authentic community voice.
- Design and run community activation programs including AMAs, themed discussions, weekly prompts, and challenges.
- Recruit, onboard, and manage a moderation team; establish community rules, tone guidelines, and escalation protocols.
- Identify, recognise, and retain top contributors through ambassador programs, flair systems, and structured engagement initiatives.
- Monitor community sentiment and surface insights to marketing and product teams.
- Collaborate with content and brand teams to integrate Reddit into broader marketing and communications strategy.
- Track and report weekly on KPIs including subscriber growth, engagement rates, moderation queue performance, and contributor retention.
- Coordinate sponsored AMAs and partnership activations in compliance with Reddit's advertising guidelines.
- Conduct A/B testing on post formats, posting schedules, and incentive structures to optimise engagement outcomes.
Key Deliverables
- Subscriber growth rate of 15% month-on-month sustained across the first two quarters.
- DAU/MAU ratio above 20% within six months.
- Moderation queue response time maintained below two hours.
- New member 30-day retention rate above 50% within the first quarter.
- Weekly KPI dashboard live and shared with leadership within 30 days.
- Minimum of one major community activation event delivered within the first 90 days.
- End-of-year review demonstrating measurable improvement across all core community health metrics.
Required Skills & Attributes
- Proven experience managing or growing a Reddit community with measurable outcomes.
- Deep understanding of Reddit culture, karma dynamics, community norms, and moderation practices.
- Hands-on experience with Reddit's native moderation tools (AutoModerator, mod logs, community insights, traffic analytics).
- Strong analytical skills; able to interpret community data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent written English with the ability to communicate in a genuine, platform-appropriate voice.
- Organised and self-directed, capable of managing multiple priorities concurrently.
- Solid grasp of content strategy principles and experience executing content calendars.
- Collaborative mindset with experience working across marketing, content, and product teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in community management, social media strategy, or related roles.
- Demonstrated track record of growing an online community with verifiable engagement outcomes.
- Experience with third-party Reddit tools (e.g., Modmail, Crowd Control) is an advantage.
- Prior exposure to Reddit's advertising platform or sponsored content programs is an advantage.
