Role Overview
As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will provide deep domain and technical expertise across the product development lifecycle. You will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, UX, QA, and other stakeholders to ensure the product meets business objectives, user needs, and industry best practices. This role is critical in shaping product decisions and ensuring high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary authority on assigned domain(s), product features, and workflows.
- Translate business and user requirements into clear functional and technical specifications.
- Partner with Product Managers to define product vision, roadmap, and feature priorities.
- Provide expert guidance to engineering teams during system design, development, and implementation.
- Review and validate system designs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Support testing and quality assurance by validating test scenarios, edge cases, and expected outcomes.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving complex product, technical, or domain-related issues.
- Contribute to product documentation, knowledge sharing, and internal training initiatives.
- Support customer-facing teams (sales, support, implementation) with domain and product expertise as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience as a Subject Matter Expert, Product Specialist, Business Analyst, or similar role in software development.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (Agile/Scrum preferred).
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one domain such as fintech, healthcare, SaaS, e-commerce, data platforms, or enterprise software.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working closely with cross-functional teams in a product-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice To Have)
- Hands-on experience with product software development or system architecture.
- Familiarity with APIs, cloud platforms, databases, and modern software stacks.
- Experience defining, reviewing, or validating UX/UI requirements.
- Prior exposure to enterprise or B2B software products.
- Certifications in Agile, Scrum, or relevant domain standards.
