Sub Project Manager - HVDC Control & Protection

As a Sub Project Manager for HVDC Control & Protection, you will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of Control & Protection (C&P) engineering activities for HVDC projects. The role combines technical expertise with project management, ensuring successful delivery of C&P software and hardware engineering within project timelines, quality standards, and budget requirements.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Lead the complete execution of Control & Protection System Engineering for HVDC projects.
• Coordinate all C&P activities during project execution.
• Define and assign work packages, deliverables, timelines, resources, and responsibilities in collaboration with engineering leads.
• Manage scheduling and milestone tracking for C&P software and hardware engineering activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams including System Design, Equipment Engineering, Auxiliary Systems, and Cabling.
• Prepare and manage technical and commercial tender documentation for C&P scope.
• Evaluate subcontractor proposals and support commercial assessments in coordination with procurement stakeholders.
• Support identification of optimal technical solutions and qualified subcontractors.
• Monitor project progress, costs, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Participate in key technical decisions alongside Project Managers and Technical Project Managers.
• Drive regular project reviews, reporting, and stakeholder communications.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while maximizing opportunities.
• Support cost optimization initiatives and effective claims/opportunity management.
  
  

What You Bring


Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline.
  
  

Experience

• Several years of experience in engineering and project management.
• Experience managing complex engineering projects within the power transmission or energy domain.
  
  

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of:
• HVDC Control & Protection Systems
• Converter Technology
• High Voltage Engineering
• Control Systems Engineering
• Power Transmission Systems
  
• Understanding of HVDC plant engineering is highly preferred.
  
  

Project Management

• Proven project management experience.
• Relevant certifications such as:
• PM@Siemens
• PMI
• IPMA
  
  

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organizational and planning abilities.
• Ability to work in multicultural environments.
• Proactive, accountable, and solution-oriented mindset.

Language Skills

• Fluent English communication skills.
