Job Description

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for executing an end-to-end design cycle of the satellite structures, including verification and validation of the simulation results. This role requires working across multiple disciplines and subsystems, collaborating with a team to develop solutions that will enable first-of-its-kind satellite servicing. This role requires demonstrated experience working on and building space systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design satellite structures and subsystems in CAD, including frames, panels, brackets, and avionics housings. Keep designs simple, light, and buildable.
  • Ensure operational and launch survivability of the docking mechanism and all flight components within the spacecraft.
  • Build and run FEM models to check strength, stiffness, and response to launch and on-orbit loads.
  • Write clear, consistent documentation for design, analysis, and reviews.
  • Own the structure through its full lifecycle: concept, design, build, test, and production.
  • Define load cases for qualification tests and ensure they match the real spacecraft environment.
  • Set test goals, requirements, and pass/fail criteria.
  • Compare test results with FEA, fix gaps, and improve models.

What we look for

Minimum requirements

  • Strong foundation in Strength of Materials, Aircraft Structures, Composite Materials, Vibrations & Structural Dynamics, Aeroelasticity, and Rigid Body Dynamics.
  • B.Tech/B.E or higher in Mechanical, Physics, Electrical, or any related engineering discipline
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in Mechanisms/Mechatronics/Structural Engineering within the aerospace, satellite manufacturing, automotive, or defence industries
  • Strong grasp of fundamental concepts of required fields like Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Controls, and Orbital Dynamics
  • Previous experience in building mechanical systems and solving contact dynamics
  • Experience using a high-end CAD software design package (e.g., NX, CATIA, etc.) and Multibody Physics tools
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with various subsystems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with leading teams building and testing mechanisms/products for space
  • Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of design and testing standards by NASA, ECSS, GSFC, etc.
  • Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA).
  • Understands Failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA).

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation, including ESOPs
  • Annual vacations
  • Professional Mental Wellness Services
