Strategic Account Manager - Japan
About Ancileo:
Ancileo is an insurtech that specializes in providing cutting-edge AI-powered Travel Insurance technology solutions to insurers, reinsurers, and brokers. Operating in 25 countries and integrated with 20+ top-tier distribution partners, Ancileo is backed by a Singapore-listed company and is expanding its global footprint. We collaborate closely with our clients on technical development, design, marketing, operations, and strategy to drive digital travel insurance partnerships worldwide.
Position Overview:
We are currently searching for a skilled Strategic Account Manager who will lead and coordinate Ancileo's projects in Japan — ensuring smooth execution, cultural alignment, and local market readiness across all initiatives.
The ideal candidate is:
- Fluent in Japanese and English (written and spoken) to bridge communication between Japanese stakeholders and Ancileo HQ
- Experienced in project/program management within insurance, technology, or digital partnerships
- Action-oriented and decisive with a proven track record of driving projects to completion with minimal supervision
It is important that the applicant is proficient in both relationship management and hands-on project execution. This is not a passive coordination role — we need someone who can make decisions, adapt quickly, and drive results.
The position involves great autonomy as Ancileo continues to expand its footprint in Japan. It is mandatory that the Account Manager conducts regular market intelligence gathering and proactively anticipates local roadblocks before they become issues.
Best practices in project management and client relationship management must be respected, and the Account Manager must deliver regular progress reports and strategic recommendations.
What This Role Does:
- Manage delivery timelines, integrations, and partner coordination within Japan — ensuring all projects are executed on schedule and meet quality standards.
- Translate business, technical, and compliance requirements between local stakeholders and Ancileo HQ, acting as the critical bridge between markets.
- Adapt global products, content, and marketing assets to the Japanese market — ensuring cultural relevance and local market fit.
- Ensure documentation, communication, and execution meet Japanese business expectations — upholding the standards of quality and professionalism expected in Japanese corporate culture.
- Anticipate local roadblocks early and drive swift, practical resolutions — taking ownership of issues and implementing solutions proactively.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with Japanese insurance carriers, travel companies, and distribution partners.
- Collaborate with internal teams (product, technical, operations, compliance) to ensure seamless delivery of Ancileo's solutions.
- Conduct regular business reviews with clients, presenting performance metrics, insights, and strategic recommendations for partnership optimization.
- Represent Ancileo at industry events, conferences, and client meetings in Japan.
Who We're Looking For:
- Experience: 5–8 years of project or program management experience in insurance, technology, or digital partnerships
- Language Skills: Fluent in Japanese and English, with strong cross-cultural communication skills (JLPT N1 or N2 preferred)
- Cultural Competence: Deep understanding of Japanese corporate culture, project governance, and customer expectations
- Execution Focus: Hands-on, organized, and confident managing projects with minimal supervision
- Decision-Making: Comfortable making decisions independently and adapting plans quickly when circumstances change
- Technical Understanding: Ability to understand and translate technical requirements, particularly AI/ML applications in insurance
- Location: Ideally based in Singapore for easier coordination with HQ and regional travel, we could also consider Tokyo location.
What We Don't Want:
- Passive coordinators who simply relay information — we need active problem-solvers
- Individuals uncomfortable making decisions or adapting plans quickly — this role requires autonomy and initiative
