Storage & Linux Support Engineer
Contract Role
Location: Old Madras Road, Benniganahalli, Bangalore, KA IN 560016.
We are seeking a highly motivated Storage & Linux Support Engineer to provide end-user and operational support for enterprise storage services in a 247 production environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Linux administration, enterprise storage technologies, and troubleshooting complex issues across storage, access, and performance layers. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, customer focus, and the ability to work independently under tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide end-user support for storage and related services in a 247 production environment (rotational or permanent shifts).
- Schedule, prioritize, and execute support activities while effectively communicating actions, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to LDAP, NFS, mounts, performance, access control, backups, and storage availability.
- Perform data operations including copy, move, delete, cleanup, backup, and archival as required.
- Manage and modify disk permissions, ownership, and group access.
- Prepare, maintain, and update technical documentation for issues, resolutions, and operational procedures.
- Apply independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques to resolve complex technical issues.
- Ensure timely issue resolution while meeting SLAs in a fast-paced, production-critical environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Linux system administration, including:
- File permissions, sticky bits, crontabs
- rsync, automount, NFS services
- LDAP integration and NFSv4 ACLs
- In-depth knowledge of Enterprise Storage technologies, including:
- NAS and SAN architectures
- NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, FCP, and S3
- Hands-on experience with storage vendor platforms such as:
- NetApp, Pure Storage, EMC/Isilon (or similar)
- Solid understanding of Directory Services, particularly LDAP.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including:
- Switching, routing, firewalls
- DNS, subnetting, and basic network troubleshooting
- Exposure to IT Service Management (ITSM) tools and operational support processes.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
