About the Role

We are seeking a creative and analytical STEM Game Designer to design engaging, hands-on, non-digital games and play experiences focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning.

This role involves creating physical games, activity kits, puzzles, and construction-based toys that encourage curiosity, logical thinking, experimentation, and problem-solving for children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop offline STEM games and toys such as board games, card games, puzzles, building kits, and activity-based learning tools
  • Translate STEM concepts into fun, age-appropriate gameplay and hands-on challenges
  • Create game mechanics, rules, and learning objectives aligned with educational outcomes
  • Design physical components including boards, cards, tiles, tokens, connectors, manuals, and packaging layouts
  • Prototype concepts using physical materials (paper, MDF, cardboard, plastic, etc.)
  • Conduct playtesting with children, analyse learning effectiveness, and iterate designs
  • Collaborate with educators, curriculum experts, graphic designers, and product teams
  • Ensure toys meet child safety, durability, and quality standards
  • Prepare detailed rulebooks, instruction manuals, activity guides, and assembly documentation
  • Support production teams with material selection, cost optimization, and manufacturability

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Education, or related field
  • 25 years of experience in offline game design, STEM toys, or educational products
  • Strong understanding of STEM concepts (basic to intermediate level depending on age group)
  • Ability to convert educational objectives into engaging gameplay
  • Experience designing for children (ages 414 preferred)
  • Hands-on prototyping skills
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or equivalent tools
  • Strong documentation, communication, and iteration skills

Good to Have:

  • Background in education, child psychology, or curriculum design
  • Experience with construction kits, logic puzzles, or engineering-based toys
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and toy safety standards
  • Experience conducting structured playtesting and learning assessments
