Role Overview
Responsible for the definition, design and optimisation of steel liners for mining grinding mills considering both process and foundry perspectives. This includes the use of simulation tools to evaluate and improve liner performance. The role also involves actively supporting and contributing to the development of the steel liner business field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define liner design parameters in cooperation with the design engineering team, considering mill operation, process requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Develop and optimise steel liner concepts for SAG and ball mills.
- Define and evaluate key liner parameters, including:
- Lifter height, spacing, and angle
- Liner profile and wear allowance
- Expected wear behaviour and service life
- Apply simulation tools to analyse grinding media trajectories, impact conditions and liner performance.
- Evaluate the influence of liner design on grinding efficiency, mill capacity, power consumption and wear rates.
- Ensure liner designs are suitable for casting processes, material selection and production requirements.
- Support technical discussions with mining customers, process engineers, foundries and internal design teams.
- Contribute to the further development and growth of the steel liner business by supporting customer requirements, developing technical solutions and identifying new market opportunities.
Required Knowledge:
- Experience in steel liner design for SAG and ball mills.
- Strong understanding of grinding processes, wear mechanisms and mill operation.
- Experience with DEM or other simulation methods for grinding mill optimisation.
- Knowledge of steel casting processes and materials used for mining liners.
- Willingness and ability to actively develop the steel liner business area from a technical and commercial perspective.
