Girl Rising's project in Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh is focused on building self-confidence, voice, and aspiration of adolescents in 24 Hindi-medium government schools across 12 villages. Alongside this, we are also working closely with parents in these 12 villages to strengthen community support, with the goal of achieving long-term outcomes like challenging gender norms, reducing early pregnancies and marriages, preventing school dropouts, and increasing access to higher education and career development
Responsibilities
Project Design
Adolescents: The project, which started in 2025 and is now in its second year of implementation, is designed to empower adolescents through a holistic 45‑session RISE curriculum, developed based on Girl Rising's decade of experience. This is being delivered in government schools over two academic years with the support of teachers and school administration. The RISE curriculum covers critical themes, including gender equity, social emotional learning, and 21st century skills like digital literacy, financial literacy, and climate action.
Teachers: Selected government school teachers are trained at least twice on all RISE curriculum topics. The training focuses on strengthening teachers understanding of why these themes matter and equipping them with classroom management techniques that drive equity within their classrooms.
Parents: 12 sessions will be conducted with parents and community members to build their awareness on the same themes that their children learn and encourage them to create a supportive environment for adolescents to thrive.
The project is being implemented in partnership with Child In Need Institute (CINI), a credible community-based organization with deep experience in working with adolescents and long-standing engagement with local communities in the state. To measure the project's effectiveness and impact, Girl Rising will conduct third-party evaluations, building evidence of behavioural and attitudinal changes among adolescents, parents, and teachers.
