Job Description

Role Overview

The State Coordinator will be at the heart of Girl Rising's work in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The candidate could also be located in Raipur. This is a dynamic, field-intensive role that demands equal parts relationship-building, program management, and on-ground problem-solving. You will serve as the primary liaison between Girl Rising, our implementing partner, government schools, teachers, parents, and district authorities. This is an expanded role where you will actively shape curriculum adaptation, lead teacher capacity-building, drive government engagement, and contribute to the evidence base that helps us grow. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary liaison for Girl Rising with local stakeholders, including implementation partners, field staff, parents, teachers, school administrations, and local government authorities.
  • Build and sustain trust‑based relationships with teachers and school administration in schools to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Facilitate meaningful engagement with parents to encourage active participation in Girl Rising sessions and alignment with project objectives.
  • Represent Girl Rising in community forums such as meetings with parents, and panchayats to promote collaboration and strengthen program visibility.
  • Participate in block, district, and state‑level government meetings; cultivate strong relationships with key officials to support long‑term scalability and sustainability.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen Girl Rising India's partnerships with government stakeholders.
  • Encourage and develop spokespersons among students, teachers, and parents whose stories can amplify the program's impact externally.

Training of Teachers

  • Support the implementation partner and Girl Rising in planning and delivering Teacher Training Workshops, conducted twice during the project cycle.
  • Facilitate quarterly in‑person and virtual learning circles with teachers to provide practical support, address challenges, and sustain motivation within safe, peer-driven spaces.
  • Lead teacher engagement by organizing regular meetings and fostering strong relationships to build buy‑in, motivation, and alignment with project goals.
  • Identify teachers requiring additional support and design targeted interventions in collaboration with the program team.

Project Management 

  • Dedicate approximately 60% of weekly work time to in‑person engagement with schools and communities to ensure program quality, and identify opportunities for improvement,
  • Align curriculum implementation schedules across schools, parent sessions, teacher trainings, and community engagements to maintain consistency and adherence to timelines.
  • Plan and coordinate visits for government officials and other external stakeholders to showcase project activities and impact.
  • Strengthen communication channels between schools, communities, and Girl Rising to ensure transparency and alignment.
  • Prepare timely, accurate program and field reports to support planning, learning, and operational excellence.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation activities by collecting data, validating reports, and sharing insights with the central team.
  • Document best practices and lessons learned from field activities to inform future program design and scale‑up.
  • Track progress against project milestones and share updates with senior leadership.
  • Facilitate cross‑learning among schools and communities by organizing exchange visits or peer learning sessions.

Curriculum Development Support

  • Support Program Managers in piloting and refining the adapted curriculum with key stakeholders, ensuring it reflects local realities and contexts.
  • Lead translation efforts to produce accurate and culturally resonant Hindi/Chhattisgarhi versions of curriculum materials.
  • Coordinate printing and timely distribution of curriculum materials across schools and communities.
  • Gather and relay feedback from teachers and students to continuously improve the curriculum.
  • Monitor classroom delivery to ensure fidelity to the curriculum and provide corrective guidance where needed.

On‑Field Partnerships

  • Maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with the implementation organization on the ground to ensure smooth program delivery.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the implementation partner's field team, addressing queries, troubleshooting challenges, and providing timely guidance.
  • Facilitate regular check‑ins with field staff to review progress, share updates, and align on priorities.
  • Support capacity building of the partner's field team through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Work with the implementation organization's team to ensure timely submission of required records and documents to Girl Rising.
  • Relay all field-related insights and updates to the internal Girl Rising team.
  • Facilitate all MEL activities including pre- and post-assessments, classroom observations, and periodic monitoring exercises.

Documentation and communication

  • Ensure proper documentation of all key activities, including meetings, sessions, and visits, to provide timely updates, field insights, photographs, and other required project details.
  • Capture and document stories of change that highlight the project's impact on key stakeholders.
  • Support the creation of presentations, briefs, and communication collateral that showcase project outcomes to external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports and communication deliverables as per organizational standards. 

Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in project management, fieldwork, or similar roles involving direct engagement with marginalized communities.
  • Sensitivity to working with communities from diverse socio‑economic contexts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively and build trust with stakeholders, demonstrating empathy and respect.
  • Proficiency in both Hindi and English is compulsory; strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential. 
  • Solution‑oriented mindset with the ability to adapt and troubleshoot effectively in dynamic field conditions.
  • Proficiency in basic digital tools ( Google Docs/Sheets/ppts, email) for communication, documentation, and reporting.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to schools and communities across Bilaspur district (at least 60% of working days).
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills to balance multiple priorities.
