Responsibilities:
Patient assessment: Assess patients physical and emotional condition, monitor vital signs, and identify changes in health status.
Planning nursing care: Develop and follow individualized nursing care plans according to patients needs.
Providing direct care: Assist with hygiene, nutrition, mobility, wound care, positioning, and other activities of daily living.
Medication administration: Administer prescribed medications, injections, IV fluids, and treatments safely and monitor their effects.
Monitoring patients: Observe symptoms, treatment responses, and potential complications, and promptly report significant changes.
Documentation: Maintain accurate nursing notes, medication records, intake/output charts, and other patient records.
Assisting doctors and other professionals: Help with examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and emergency interventions.
Patient and family education: Explain medications, treatments, diet, self-care, discharge instructions, and health-promotion measures.
Infection prevention: Follow hand hygiene, aseptic techniques, isolation precautions, and proper waste-disposal procedures.
Emergency care: Recognize emergencies and provide immediate nursing interventions, including basic life support when required.
Coordination of care: Communicate with doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
Safety and advocacy: Protect patients rights, privacy, dignity, and safety and advocate for their healthcare needs.
Ward management: Maintain equipment and supplies, ensure a clean and safe environment, and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Professional responsibilities: Follow nursing standards, hospital policies, ethical principles, and maintain professional knowledge through continuing education.
