Position Summary

We are seeking aStaff Mechanical Engineerto join a growing R&D team in Hyderabad supporting sustaining engineering, VAVE, and lifecycle management for theKingFishersample preparation systemsandDetection instruments.

In this role, you will serve as atechnical lead for mechanical engineering initiatives, driving design improvements, resolving complex technical issues, and ensuring robust mechanical system performance across product lifecycles. You will play a key role insustaining and VAVE efforts, while contributing to system integration and helping build capability towardfuture product development ownership.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineering Leadership

  • Act as atechnical lead for mechanical systems and subsystems, including assemblies, mechanisms, enclosures, and thermal/structural components.

  • Leaddesign, analysis, and troubleshootingof mechanical components and systems.

  • Driveroot cause investigationsfor mechanical and system-level issues, including field failures and reliability concerns.

  • Supportdesign trade-offs, material selection, and tolerance analysistooptimizeperformance, cost, and manufacturability.

Sustaining Engineering & Lifecycle Management

  • Lead mechanical workstreams forsustaining activities, including design updates,componentobsolescence, and supplier changes.

  • Ensure designs meetreliability, durability, and manufacturability requirements.

  • Partner with global teams to supportknowledge transferandmaintainproduct continuity.

Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE)

  • Identifyand implementcost reduction opportunitieswithin mechanical designs and assemblies.

  • Collaborate with sourcing and manufacturing to evaluatealternative materials, components, and suppliers.

  • Drivedesign for cost and scalabilityacross platforms.

System Integration & Technical Contribution

  • Collaborate with systems, electrical, and software teams to ensurerobust system integration.

  • Contribute tosystem requirements, interface definitions, and verification activities.

  • Provide input totechnology and product roadmap discussionsfrom a mechanical engineering perspective.

Global & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate withglobal R&D teams (Finland, US, Singapore)to support technical alignment and knowledge transfer.

  • Partner withBusiness Unit Product Managementto align engineering execution with product priorities.

  • Interface withmanufacturing, quality, service, and sourcingto resolve issues and improve product performance.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to buildingmechanical engineering capabilitywithin the team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineeringor related field advanced degree preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience inmechanical engineering for complex products or instrumentation.

  • Strong experience inmechanical design, CAD modeling, and tolerance analysis.

  • Proven ability introubleshooting, root cause analysis, and design improvements.

  • Experience working incross-functional and global engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience withlife sciences or analytical instrumentation(e.g., sample prep, PCR/qPCR).

  • Experience withVAVE, cost optimization, and design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA).

  • Familiarity withthermal analysis,fluidicsintegration, or precision mechanisms.

  • Experience withregulated product development environments.

  • Ability toinfluence and collaborate across teams.

Impact

  • Serves as atechnical lead for mechanical engineering initiativesacross platforms.

  • Drives execution ofsustaining engineering and VAVE effortswithin the mechanical domain.

  • Contributes tosystem-level performance, reliability, and cost improvements.

  • Supports the growth ofR&D capability in Hyderabad.
