The International Emerging Stores (IES) Sub-Same Day (SSD) business aims to become the place of choice for customers across all Emerging Marketplaces for their time-sensitive needs. We make a large, curated speed-sensitive selection available to customers - delivered within hours, same day, or overnight by improving delivery speeds and promises, enhancing product discovery, and building trust through timely, contextually relevant delivery updates. Our efforts drive customers to shop more frequently at Amazon for urgent non-grocery needs and ultimately convert to Prime.
You will have the opportunity to work with a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, operations leaders, supply chain partners, and business stakeholders to drive some of IES SSD's highest-impact programs. You will be a highly visible leader who owns the communication, coordination, and execution of a multi-year program vision - from expanding curated selection coverage and improving delivery promise accuracy to scaling speed across marketplaces and driving Prime conversion.
You will work with senior product and engineering leaders to define strategy and requirements for systems that power sub-same-day fulfillment at scale. You will design, coordinate, and execute technical solutions that optimize speed, selection breadth, promise reliability, and cost to serve across fulfillment networks, last-mile transportation, and customer-facing delivery experiences. Managing complex dependencies across inventory systems, fulfillment operations, transportation platforms, and promise-surfacing integrations, you will be expected to make appropriate trade-offs between business velocity and technical constraints, clearly communicate goals, roles, and responsibilities, and drive alignment across teams.
Working cross-functionally, you will identify and secure commitment from tech teams across the company for new initiatives - whether it's integrating with new marketplace platforms, improving delivery speed tiers, enhancing product discovery for speed-sensitive selection, or building automation into fulfillment workflows - driving consensus on the technical approach. You will also identify opportunities to converge overlapping technical efforts, reduce operational toil, and drive the long-term strategy and manage the roadmap and change management process for IES SSD's growth in Emerging Marketplaces.
The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded technical background with experience in large-scale distributed systems, and a history of leading large, ambiguous programs end-to-end. You thrive in fast-paced environments where speed is the product and customer satisfaction is the measure. Maturity, high-level judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent, and leadership are essential to success in this role.
