Scope
- The Senior Oracle DBA will be responsible for managing and supporting mission-critical Oracle database environments in a 24/7 enterprise setup.
- This role requires a strong hands-on DBA with deep troubleshooting, performance tuning, scripting, backup/recovery, RAC, Data Guard, and operational ownership experience. The person should be able to independently manage critical issues, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and drive database-related incidents and service requests to closure.
- This role is critical to ensuring Oracle database availability, performance, reliability, and operational excellence across large-scale production environments.
What You'll Do
- Own and operate mission-critical Oracle / SQL Server databases in a 24/7 environment.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, tune performance, automate operational tasks, support, design and implement a backup/recovery system and HA/DR.
- Communicate with stakeholders, and drive incidents to closure
- Install, patch, and maintain all Oracle software.
- Tune all Oracle instance components including SQL and PL/SQL.
- Review and approve all production schema changes.
- Automate repetitive tasks by writing shell scripts/leveraging existing automation frameworks.
- Ensure DB availability.
- Proactively manage and maintain security standards and controls.
- Help in the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
- Owning and resolving problems and managing customer expectations.
- Actively seek to learn, optimize, and investigate all issues related to database.
- Assist the infrastructure and Application team in sizing hardware used for the databases.
- Ensure database backups are appropriately executed and periodic restorations are exercised to ensure backup quality.
- Support and collaborate with support analyst, product developer and professional services.
- Proactively Identification of bottle necks and blocking and deadlock issues.
- Ensure SLA's & operational KPI's are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions when major incidents occur.
- Broad experience in the art of performance tuning, utilizing OEM or third-party tools to finely tune objects and partitions in Oracle 19c, and applications.
- Experience automating, scripting, and streamlining processes for efficiency and accuracy utilizing shell scripting or other scripting tools.
- Mentor fellow DBAs.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree (STEM preferred) and minimum of 10 to 13 years of relevant work experience as an Oracle DBA.
- Manage, monitor, and support Oracle databases across production and non-production environments.
- Troubleshoot complex database issues related to performance, locking, sessions, waits, storage, connectivity, backup failures, Data Guard, and RAC.
- Perform SQL tuning, AWR/ASH analysis, execution plan review, index tuning, and database performance optimization.
- Develop and maintain DBA scripts for monitoring, automation, health checks, capacity tracking, and operational reporting.
- Own production incidents end-to-end and drive issues to closure with clear communication.
- Support backup/recovery, RMAN, Data Guard, RAC, patching, upgrades, migrations, cloning, and refresh activities.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, Unix/Linux, storage, and operations teams.
- Participate in 24/7 support with rotational shifts and on-call coverage.
