The Senior Staff Engineer, Electrical Engineering is responsible for electronics development for molecular diagnostics instrument that has high impact to the organization. This is a senior, hands-on role focused on designing and testing the electronic systems at the heart of our Class II and Class III diagnostic devices. You will tackle our most complex electrical engineering challenges, from low-noise analog sensor interfaces to high-speed digital processing systems. As a key technical leader, you will mentor other engineers, drive best practices, and ensure our hardware designs are robust, reliable, and compliant with stringent diagnostic/ medical device regulations

This position is part of the Electrical Engineering team and will be in Bangalore, IDC, India. At Cepheid, our mission is delivering A Better Way to improve patient outcomes by enabling access to molecular diagnostic testing everywhere.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

  • Perform hands-on integration of electromechanical, electrooptic, and multidomain integrated systems to optimize signaltonoise ratio, fault tolerance, and systemlevel packaging requirements
  • Execute analog and digital systems design within constrained form factors, including boardlevel schematic capture, PCB layout, and hardware debug
  • Diagnose and resolve electronics issues across systems incorporating motion control, signal conditioning and processing, and thermal control architectures
  • Lead and implement redesign activities based on rootcause findings, including verification, validation, and Change Order creation and execution in a regulated product development environment
  • Develop, update, and maintain systemlevel electronics configurations and design documentation to support ongoing hardware lifecycle management

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 8+ years of related experience, or MS in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years, or PhD in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of related experience
  • Proven product development, commercialization, and test experience within FDAregulated or comparable riskcontrol environments
  • Boardlevel circuit design experience for microprocessorbased or FPGAbased embedded systems used in motion control and/or data acquisition
  • Experience developing highfidelity data acquisition systems including lownoise signal conditioning circuitry, power management circuitry, advanced PCB layout techniques, and optimized PCB stackups
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and conducting electrical safety and EMC/EMI testing, and completing CE marking and electrical compliance certifications including IEC 6132626, IEC 610003x, 6060112, IEC 610101, and FCC Part 15 Subpart B, with ability to lift 25 lbs

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Familiarity with scripting tools, such as Python or Matlab
