About the role

Peepul is seeking an HR Senior Specialist to strengthen our people systems and drive initiatives that support our growth and scale plans. Reporting to the Head of HR, this role will lead key areas of the HR agenda, including people strategy, end-to-end Learning & Development, employee engagement, and culture-building. The role will own the design, execution, and continuous strengthening of Peepul's L&D ecosystem, ensuring capability building across individual, team, and leadership levels.

This is a high-impact role requiring strong expertise in organizational development and people management, with the ability to design and implement scalable, data-informed initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness, build leadership capacity, and foster a thriving, values-driven culture at Peepul.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Strategic HR and People Development:

  • Design and implement HR strategies that align with Peepul's mission, vision, and growth plans.
  • Partner with senior leadership to build a high-performing, values-driven culture that fosters accountability, collaboration, and trust.
  • Provide counsel and thought partnership to leaders on people management, team development, and organizational priorities.

Learning & Development (L&D):

  • Own and lead Learning & Development at Peepul end-to-end, from needs assessment and strategy design to execution and impact evaluation.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive L&D roadmap aligned with Peepul's organizational goals, growth priorities, and competency frameworks.
  • Conduct organization-wide learning needs analyses in partnership with leadership and functional heads to identify capability gaps at individual, team, and leadership levels.
  • Design, curate, and deliver learning interventions across formats (workshops, cohorts, on-the-job learning, peer learning, external programs, digital learning, etc.).
  • Build and scale leadership development initiatives for people managers and senior leaders, strengthening people management, coaching, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Establish systems to track learning effectiveness, participation, and outcomes, using data and feedback to continuously refine L&D offerings.
  • Partner with internal and external facilitators, subject-matter experts, and vendors to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
  • Foster a strong learning culture by embedding continuous learning, reflection, and growth into Peepul's ways of working.

Culture and Employee Engagement:

  • Champion initiatives that strengthen Peepul's culture and employee engagement.
  • Design interventions to enhance belonging, motivation, and alignment with organizational values.
  • Lead efforts to sustain a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented work environment.

Employee Relations and Wellbeing:

  • Manage employee relations with sensitivity, fairness, and discretion; provide guidance and counselling in resolving workplace issues and grievances.
  • Promote initiatives that support employee well-being, work-life balance, and mental health.

Policy Development

  • Lead the review and revamp of existing HR policies and design new ones grounded in market research, sector best practices, and organizational needs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Gender and Inclusion team to ensure all policies and practices are equitable, inclusive, and aligned with Peepul's commitment to diversity and well-being.

Qualifications and Role Requirements:

At Peepul, we seek talented professionals passionate about driving educational transformation and making a positive impact. We are looking for individuals who possess the following qualifications and meet the role requirements:

  • Educational Background: Master's degree in business administration, Human Resources or related discipline.
  • Work Experience: 8-10 years of experience in Human Resources, ideally in the development sector or similarly dynamic environments. At least 2 years in a leadership role with hands-on experience managing the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment to retention. Strong background in HR strategy development and execution, with the ability to balance both strategic and operational leadership.
  • Other Skills: Exceptional problem-solving and prioritization abilities. Proven capacity to manage complex HR functions while supporting organizational goals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and organizational tools (e.g., MS Teams, Outlook, OneDrive). Ability to foster collaboration and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Hindi is essential for this role.
