About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer (Java Backend Developer) to join our Operations & Technology - Fraud Products team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing new capabilities for Mastercard's Decision Management Platform, which is central to our efforts in combating fraud and verifying cardholder identities. The platform processes billions of transactions monthly in milliseconds, utilizing a sophisticated, multi-tiered, message-oriented architecture designed for high performance, scalability, and availability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on industry-leading fraud prevention solutions, accelerate time-to-market for innovative business solutions, and solve complex, high-scale business problems using cutting-edge technologies.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with experience in developing and debugging complex enterprise applications. You should have excellent communication skills, be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment. A solid understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working within geographically distributed teams are essential. Technical proficiency in Java, web services, databases, and modern development tools is required. Knowledge of containerized environments, frontend frameworks, and security practices will be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality software solutions through hands-on development, ensuring adherence to Mastercard standards and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with technical leads to design and implement scalable, reliable systems.
- Provide production support as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), resolving incidents and problem tickets efficiently.
- Plan, design, and develop technical solutions, including requirements gathering, technical documentation, and testing strategies.
- Lead day-to-day system development and maintenance activities to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Drive innovation, cost efficiency, and faster deployment cycles to enhance product offerings.
- Manage the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including feasibility studies, estimations, and deployment planning.
- Participate in Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and support vendor and technology selection processes.
- Conduct technical training sessions, brown bag discussions, and mentorship programs for team members.
- Continuously improve development standards and process efficiencies.
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage across unit, system, integration, and performance testing phases.
- Perform quality inspections, including requirements reviews, design walkthroughs, code reviews, and security assessments.
