SAP GTS Consultant

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for SAP GTS incidents, service requests, and operational issues.

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve SAP GTS issues across Customs Management, Export Control, Trade 

Compliance, Preference Management, Product Classification, and Intrastat processes.

• Support and maintain customs declaration processes, tariff classification, preference determination, and 

Intrastat reporting activities.

• Monitor and support customs authority communication, EDI interfaces, ATLAS connectivity, and message 

exchanges with external parties.

• Execute and support trade compliance processes, including legal control, sanctions screening, export 

control checks, embargo management, and related risk management activities.

• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for recurring application 

and integration issues.

• Monitor batch jobs, interfaces, queues, transfer logs, and system integrations to ensure business 

continuity and operational stability.

• Investigate and resolve complex issues related to customs declarations, customs classification, legal 

control classification, preference processing, Intrastat reporting, and cross-system integrations.

• Collaborate with key users, business stakeholders, customs specialists, and technical teams to ensure 

timely issue resolution.

• Execute standard changes, application maintenance activities, configuration adjustments, and system 

documentation updates.

• Ensure compliance with SLAs, service quality targets, audit requirements, and operational governance 

processes.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Several years of hands-on SAP GTS consulting, implementation, and AMS support experience.

• Mandatory: Proven project and support experience with SAP GTS Edition for HANA.

• Strong functional expertise in:

- Export Control

- Compliance Management (SPL Screening, Embargo Checks and Legal Control)

- Customs Management (Export)

- US Re-Export and De Minimis Regulations

- Preference Management

- Customs Classification (Tariff Classification)

- Legal Control Classification (ECCN / Dual-Use Classification)

- Intrastat Reporting

• Strong understanding of customs, foreign trade, and export control regulations across the DACH region 

(Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).

• Experience with customs communication platforms and integrations, including:

- ATLAS (Germany), e-Zoll (Austria), Passar (Switzerland)

- Seeburger, Prodata

- Comparable customs communication and EDI solutions

• Experience integrating SAP GTS with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.

• Strong technical expertise in:

- SAP GTS Customizing

- Interface Design and Troubleshooting

- IDocs

- RFCs

- Transfer and Application Log Analysis

• Strong ability to independently analyze and resolve complex incidents involving customs declarations, 

compliance processes, classifications, preference determination, Intrastat reporting, and cross-system 

integrations.

• Experience monitoring and supporting customs communication, batch jobs, queues, interfaces, and 

business-critical integrations.

• Strong technical troubleshooting and debugging skills are desirable, including experience with:

- ABAP Debugging

- BAdIs

- User Exits

- Enhancements

- Technical Root Cause Analysis

• SAP GTS Certification is desirable
