Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Strategy Assess the existing Salesforce Classic org to determine technical debt, custom code complexity (Apex/Visualforce), and integration dependencies. Define the roadmap and architectural blueprint for migrating from Classic to Lightning Experience, ensuring 100% user adoption and feature parity. Establish governance models for LWC development, including code standards, security (LockerService), and performance optimization (lightning page performance, bundle sizes).
- Technical Execution (Classic to LWC) Lead the refactoring strategy to replace Visualforce pages with Lightning Web Components and Lightning Pages. Oversee the conversion of legacy Aura components to LWC, utilizing the mixed architecture approach to ensure stability during the transition. Architect solutions for unsupported Classic features in Lightning (e.g., custom JavaScript buttons, inline Visualforce, specific CSS hacks) by building equivalent LWC solutions. Optimize Apex controllers to be Lightning Ready—ensuring they support asynchronous patterns, avoid view state limitations, and utilize @AuraEnabled(cacheable=true) effectively.
- Development & Integration Serve as the lead developer for the most complex LWC components, utilizing modern JavaScript (ES8+), CSS, and the Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS). Design integration patterns (REST/MQ) ensuring that external systems continue to function seamlessly during and after the Classic migration. Implement CI/CD pipelines (using Gearset, Copado, or Jenkins) specific to metadata deployment challenges associated with Lightning components.
- User Experience & Adoption Collaborate with UX/UI teams to redesign legacy layouts (Page Layouts) into dynamic Lightning Record Pages using Dynamic Forms and conditional visibility. Conduct technical spike sessions to resolve Classic-only constraints, ensuring that power users who relied on Classic features find equivalent or superior functionality in LWC.
Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Salesforce Classic: Deep understanding of Visualforce, jQuery, S-Controls (legacy), and the limitations of Classic (view state, synchronous transactions, iframe restrictions).
- LWC Mastery: Expert proficiency in Lightning Web Components (LWC), including composition, pub/sub models, custom events, and lifecycle hooks.
- Apex: Advanced proficiency in Apex (Triggers, Batch, Queueable, REST Callouts) with a focus on optimizing bulk patterns for Lightning UI performance.
- JavaScript: Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6/ES8), promises, async/await, and web standards.
- Tools: Experience with Salesforce DX, VS Code, and source-driven development.
Experience
- 5+ years of Salesforce architecture experience.
- Proven track record of at least 2 full lifecycle migrations from Salesforce Classic to Lightning Experience, specifically involving the decommissioning of Visualforce in favor of LWC.
- Experience managing the Lightning Readiness assessment process and resolving the top 10 Classic compatibility issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Salesforce Certified Application Architect or System Architect.
- Experience with OmniStudio (Vlocity) or Industry Clouds.
- Familiarity with performance tuning for LWC (e.g., lazy loading, wire service optimization).
- Experience with Experience Cloud (Communities) migration from Classic to Lightning.
