Sr. Piping Engineer

Job Requirements

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Piping Layout & Design Engineer with 5–7 years of experience in designing efficient, safe, and compliant plant layouts and piping systems. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD proficiency, a deep understanding of piping codes and standards, and the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines. Prior experience in large-scale EPC projects is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize equipment layouts for process facilities, preferably in for industrial, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Power Plant Projects.
• Create detailed piping layout designs based on project specifications and process requirements.
• Prepare piping material specifications and bill of materials (BOM).
• Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Interpret and review P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and process flow diagrams.
• Design plant layouts and piping systems using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Plant 3D).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams for integrated design.
• Conduct site visits for layout validation and constructability reviews.
• Resolve technical issues during design and construction phases.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and suppliers during design and installation.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of plant piping systems.
• Stay updated with latest technologies and best practices in Plant design.
• Ensure designs meet ASME, ANSI, and other relevant codes and standards.
  
  

Experience with piping stress analysis will be considered an added advantage.

Work Experience

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
• 5 - 7 years of experience in piping and equipment layout design (oil & gas, chemical, or Power)
• Proficiency in CAD tools
• Candidate should be positive, flexible, adaptive and self-driven
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Experience with stress analysis tools is a plus
  
  

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

• Proven experience in Plant Layout and piping design for Large-scale projects.
• Exposure to EPC contractor engineering workflows.
• Thorough knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASME, API, PIP, etc.)
• Ability to read, interpret, and create P&IDs, PFDs, and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with safety standards, ergonomic principles, and maintenance accessibility.
• Experience supporting procurement and installation teams with layout documentation.
• Ability to coordinate with suppliers and contractors for equipment commissioning.
• Strong documentation skills for layout plans, revisions, and compliance records.
• Experience with piping stress analysis will be considered an added advantage
