Senior Mendix Developer

Summary

The Senior Software Engineer will serve as a technical lead within the SSB IT team, responsible for designing, developing, and supporting solutions using Mendix, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Azure platforms. This role identifies application solutions to improve operational efficiency, add value, and reduce cost that support the strategic direction of the organization.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer who also serves as a Senior Mendix Developer/Solutions Architect. The ideal candidate will bring a comprehensive technical background in Mendix low-code development, SQL/PostgreSQL database management, .NET, C#, Java, JavaScript, and cloud technologies including AWS and Azure.

In this dual role, you will lead Mendix projects and architect innovative solutions while also providing expert developer support. Your expertise will be pivotal in optimizing our industrial automation systems, developing a citizen developer platform, and ensuring seamless integration across diverse technologies. The ideal candidate will not only lead technical development efforts but also mentor junior developers, facilitate agile ceremonies, and represent IT in cross-functional planning sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

Mendix Low-Code Development & Solutions Architecture

- Lead the design, development, and customization of business applications using the Mendix low-code platform.

- Act as a Solutions Architect, translating business requirements into efficient, scalable Mendix-based solutions.

- Rapidly prototype, test, and deploy applications to enhance operational efficiency.

- Establish and promote best practices for low-code development to ensure maintainability and scalability.

- Provide guidance to junior developers during sprints and design reviews to ensure best practices are followed.

SQL/PostgreSQL Database Management

- Architect and manage both SQL and PostgreSQL databases that support critical applications.

- Optimize complex queries and ensure data integrity, performance, and reliability.

- Implement data integration solutions that facilitate seamless data flow between systems.

.NET, C#, Java, and JavaScript Development

- Develop and maintain .NET-based applications using C# for robust enterprise-grade solutions.

- Utilize Java for building backend services and application logic as needed.

- Develop dynamic, user-friendly interfaces and client-side applications using JavaScript.

- Ensure high-quality code through best practices, code reviews, and rigorous testing protocols.

Cloud Technologies & Version Control

- Leverage AWS and Azure cloud platforms to deploy, scale, and manage applications effectively.

- Integrate cloud services with existing systems to enhance performance and reliability.

- Utilize Git for version control to manage code repositories and collaborate seamlessly across development teams.

Project Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Own full lifecycle project delivery, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, technical reviews, and stakeholder communication.

- Act as the point of contact for escalations, support planning, and resource coordination within the team.

- Mentor junior developers by sharing expertise across Mendix, SQL/PostgreSQL, .NET, C#, Java, JavaScript, and cloud services.

- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to drive innovative solutions and continuous improvement.

Performance, Security, & Continuous Improvement

- Ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability across all applications and systems.

- Stay updated with emerging trends and advancements across all relevant technologies.

- Propose and implement process improvements to enhance development efficiency and system reliability.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- Proven experience (7+ years) in software development with significant hands-on expertise in:

- Mendix low-code platform, with a proven track record as a Senior Mendix Developer or Solutions Architect.

- SQL/PostgreSQL database design, optimization, and complex query development.

- .NET and C# development for enterprise-grade applications.

- Java and JavaScript programming.

- Experience working with AWS and Azure cloud services for application deployment and management.

- Proficiency with Git/GitHub for source control and collaboration.

- Demonstrated experience in architecting scalable, efficient solutions and leading cross-functional projects.

- 12 years of experience in a technical leadership or mentorship capacity, such as team lead, project lead, or scrum master role within a development team.

- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and project management best practices.

- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

- Demonstrated leadership experience supporting teams or mentoring developers in a collaborative development environment.

- Experience with additional integration frameworks and containerization technologies.

- Familiarity with other low-code platforms and modern development tools.

- Certifications related to Mendix, .NET, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), or database management.

- Experience working in regulated or industrial environments.
