This Position reports to:

Mechanical Engineering Team Lead


Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to create, modify, and analyze the design of equipment, systems, or installations, including specifications for manufacturing, fabrication, or construction. Each day, you will optimize designs to meet updated standards and incorporate new products, components, and functionalities. You will also showcase your expertise by applying design thinking or design for excellence concepts in projects.

This role is contributing to the Motion business for TractionDivision based in Bangalore, India:

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Perform 3D modeling, design annotations, and 2D deliverables in compliance with QCD commitments, rules, and processes.
  • Conceptualize new designs and translate concepts into formal engineering drawings. Review drawings/specifications and communicate requirements to vendors. Update and maintain product drawings.
  • Provide input and recommend improvements to new and existing product designs. Demonstrate proficiency in CAD skills and relevant engineering mathematics.
  • Perform detailed FEA simulations using Ansys and analyze results to validate mechanical design performance.
  • Recommend improvements related to standards, products, and drawings. Realize Bill of Material (BOM) for assigned designs.
  • Design products ensuring manufacturability, serviceability, testability, and performance compliance.
  • Respect and/or allocate mechanical requirements and interfaces to subsystems or equipment (volume, weight, location, etc.)
  • Analyze and implement change requests as required. Validate mechanical domain deliverables and maintain project planning.

Qualifications for the role :

  • Full time Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Prefer 5-10 years of relevant work experience - Mechanical Engineering experience in Railway products preferred (5+ years).
  • Proficiency in design software: Creo, Windchill, Ansys.
  • Strong Finite Element Analysis (FEA) skills with 3-5 years of handson experience using Ansys for structural simulations.
  • Capable of performing and interpreting both FEA and hand calculations
  • Working knowledge in Sheet Metal, Welding, DFM/DFA, FMEA, CAD/CAM
  • SAP knowledge is an added advantage
