THE ROLE

We have an existing client with a need for an  Sr Mapics / Infor XA ERP Developer (IBM i / RPG).

LOCATION / DURATION

We are Infor preferred delivery partners so we do have a busy pipeline of projects across the Infor product line.

This particular opportunity is currently projected to be remote but if any onsite visits are required they will be limited to short visit for project kickoff, stakeholder meetings, etc. All travel expenses related to these visits will be pre-booked and funded to mitigate out-of-pocket status for the candidate.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mapics / Infor XA ERP Developer to oversee the day-to-day technical maintenance, optimization, and enhancement of our core ERP platform. Our environment runs a core Infor XA deployment on IBM i (AS/400) with a DB2 database backend , featuring an extensive footprint of up to 1000 custom RPG programs.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational continuity , maintaining complex cross-system data integrations , and developing user-requested functional enhancements across multiple business cycles (including Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, and Manufacture-to-Distribute). Additionally, as we undergo digital transformation, this individual will play a vital role in an interim initiative to deeply document, clean up, and selectively rewrite/modernize legacy business logic.

• Ensure the daily operational continuity of the Infor XA ERP environment, minimizing and resolving extended outages during month-end closes or system errors.
• Manage and maintain the health of core ERP database objects within DB2 and handle master data structures to support accurate transactional flow.
• Troubshoot and remediate technical system issues across business lines—specifically focusing on resolving manual and duplicative bottlenecks by introducing programmatic stability.

• Scope, design, and code custom ERP enhancements generated by functional area leads and key business stakeholders.
• Develop clean, modular code using RPG (RPG III, RPG IV, RPGLE, and Free-Form) to expand business capabilities.
• Deliver functional improvements targeting critical operational workflows, such as financial and accounting accuracy, multi-state tax handling, compliance reporting, and automated inventory or shop floor tracking.

• Maintain and improve existing integrations between Infor XA (Core ERP) and our broader system topology, which currently includes System Link, Excel data loads, auto-integration uploads, and third-party tools.
• Support the transition from disjointed, manual communication channels into automated, synchronized workflows to give business units real-time data visibility.

• Participate in a critical interim effort to catalog, analyze, and document the core business logic, data dependencies, and rules residing within our 900 legacy RPG programs.
• Assist in evaluating code logic to prepare for selective rewrites or translations into modern contemporary standards (such as SQL or embedded procedures).
• Enhance knowledge retention across the department by building clear, centralized documentation for newly deployed logic and configurations.

• Infor XA / MAPICS Expertise: Minimum of 5–7 years of hands-on technical development experience inside an Infor XA / Mapics environment. Strong familiarity with core XA architecture, database files, and system utilities (e.g., System Link is highly preferred).

• IBM i (AS/400) & RPG Mastery: Mastery of IBM i operating environments and advanced programming fluency in RPG III, RPG IV, RPGLE, and Free-Form RPG.

• Database Programming: Robust experience writing complex queries, database definitions, and data structures utilizing DB2 for i and SQL.

• System Integration: Proven experience managing data pipelines, automated integrations, API communication, or batch-upload tools connecting a core ERP with disparate satellite systems.
