Key Responsibilities:
Legal Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support to senior management and business teams on corporate, commercial, employment, regulatory, and operational matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts, agreements, policies, and legal documentation.
- Handle litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution, including coordination with external counsels.
- Ensure compliance with corporate laws, labor laws, data protection, and industry-specific regulations.
- Advise on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions, as applicable.
Compliance Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs, policies, and internal controls.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and internal audits; recommend corrective actions.
- Oversee regulatory filings, licenses, approvals, and statutory compliance.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulators, auditors, and external legal advisors.
Governance & Risk Management
- Support corporate governance frameworks, board processes, and committee requirements.
- Identify legal and compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Conduct training and awareness programs for employees on legal and compliance matters.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and mentor junior legal/compliance team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HR, Finance, Operations, IT, etc.).
- Manage relationships with external law firms and consultants.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB); LLM preferred.
- Qualified legal professional (as per jurisdiction requirements).
- 812+ years of experience in legal and compliance roles, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
- Strong knowledge of corporate laws, regulatory compliance, and contract management.
- Experience dealing with regulators and senior stakeholders.
