Role Overview

The Employee Relations (ER) Manager will be responsible for strengthening Medline's International employee relations framework and practice by proactively addressing workplace issues, coaching managers & employees, ensuring legal compliance, and promoting a culture of openness and fairness.

This role will work in close collaboration with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) across all International markets to ensure consistent, timely, and effective handling of people matters and to enable managers to build high-performing, compliant, and engaged teams.

The role will also be accountable for managing investigations into cases raised via EthicsPoint (Medlines case management system for concerns raised by employees).

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Compliance Management

  • Act as an advisor to local HR teams on employee relations matters and partner with HRBPs for holistic case handling.
  • Conduct fair, thorough, and unbiased investigations into workplace concerns, escalated via EthicsPoint or through other channels, domestic enquiry, grievances, misconduct, or policy violations, in accordance with Medline policy and with adherence to principles of natural justice.
  • Maintain detailed case documentation, track trends, and share monthly insights with internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with Legal on cases involving significant risk and ensure preventive risk mitigation.
  • Liaisons with corporate ER and legal team for reporting and global process alignment
  • Support statutory and internal audits related to employee relations, disciplinary actions, and compliance processes.
  • Monitor adherence to HR policies and escalate deviations; recommend policy upgrades as needed.
  • Manages the templates for formal communications that are outcomes of investigations and provides coaching & guidance for local HR to complete them appropriately, in line with local requirements
  • Provide guidance on the consistent application of disciplinary actions, PIPs, coaching plans, and corrective processes.

Manager & HRBP Enablement, Culture & Process Strengthening

  • Upskill HRBPs and investigators around the management of the International investigation processes to ensure consistency and fairness in process
  • Work closely with HRBPs to coach managers on handling performance issues, conflict resolution, conduct concerns, and difficult conversations.
  • Build preventive ER capability through manager training, employee awareness sessions, playbooks, checklists, and communication resources.
  • Strengthen team-level trust, psychological safety, and communication by identifying patterns and early-warning indicators.
  • Collaborate with L&D to embed ER best practices into manager development programs, including the facilitation of upskilling sessions for HR.
  • Support HRBPs by reviewing performance documentation, PIP design, and ensuring process robustness.
  • Partner with the international HR leadership team to identify, analyse and action plan recurring issues across our markets as an input to our employee relations agenda
  • Ensure transparent, consistent, and timely communication with all stakeholders on ER matters.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 15 years of experience in Employee Relations roles, with demonstrated capability to operate in multinational organizations
  • Experience operating in multiple countries in the context of a global capability center (as a center of expertise that provides corporate guidance and coaching across markets)
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to engage at senior leadership level with credibility and impact
  • Track record in strong cross functional collaboration, including with Legal and Compliance stakeholders. Coaching, influencing, documentation and follow-up must be strengths.
  • Hands-on experience in managing investigations and drafting formal legal notices and letters.
