  • Provide technical guidance, support, and training to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Oversee the workload distribution within the team and ensure that engineers are effectively allocated to projects based on expertise and project needs.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and develop career growth plans for team members.

Electrical Design Oversight:

  • Supervise the design of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, cabling, and control systems for a variety of projects.
  • Ensure that electrical designs meet all client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory codes (e.g., NEC, IEC, local standards).
  • Review and approve electrical design documents such as single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Perform or oversee load calculations, short-circuit studies, and fault analysis as required for each project.

Project Management and Coordination:

  • Manage multiple electrical design projects simultaneously, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to define project scope, objectives, schedules, and budgets.
  • Monitor project progress, address technical issues, and ensure that project milestones are achieved.
  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed according to the design specifications, quality standards, and client expectations.

Client Relations and Stakeholder Communication:

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring that their requirements and expectations are met throughout the design process.
  • Lead design reviews, project meetings, and discussions with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and resolve any issues.
  • Develop and present project proposals, including cost estimates, timelines, and design solutions to clients and senior management.

Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with safety regulations, codes, and industry standards, including environmental and sustainability considerations.
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that all designs are accurate, reliable, and cost-effective.
  • Perform design and constructability reviews to identify and mitigate potential risks during the project lifecycle.

Innovation and Process Improvement:

  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering and design.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and the implementation of new technologies to improve project outcomes.
  • Promote sustainable design practices and innovative solutions that enhance energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and contribute to environmentally responsible practices.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Oversee the preparation of electrical engineering budgets and manage the allocation of resources for design projects.
  • Ensure that design projects remain within financial constraints, making recommendations for cost-saving measures while maintaining quality.
  • Review and approve purchase orders for electrical equipment and materials, ensuring that procurement is in line with project specifications and timelines.

Risk Management and Issue Resolution:

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to electrical design, including technical, safety, and environmental risks.
  • Resolve any design-related issues that arise during the construction phase or post-installation.
  • Ensure that appropriate risk management strategies are in place to prevent project delays or budget overruns.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of all design documentation, including drawings, specifications, reports, and progress reports.
  • Review and approve design documentation and ensure compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and present regular status reports to senior management on project progress, key challenges, and project outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a specialized field is preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Skills:
  • Strong expertise in electrical design principles, including power distribution, control systems, lighting, and electrical protection.
  • Proficient in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of local, national, and international electrical codes and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE).
  • Solid experience in managing large-scale electrical design projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a team and interact with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
  • Problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges and issues.
  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) for electrical design is a plus.
