Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Application Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical Java applications. In this role, you will work closely with product engineering teams to troubleshoot complex production issues, enhance application observability, optimize JVM performance, and automate operational processes. This is an engineering-focused SRE role, ideal for professionals passionate about application reliability rather than infrastructure operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and enhance the reliability of Java-based applications running on Kubernetes.
- Investigate and resolve complex production issues using logs, metrics, traces, heap dumps, and thread dumps.
- Analyze JVM performance, memory usage, garbage collection, and application behavior to improve stability.
- Collaborate with development teams on application architecture, deployments, and performance optimization.
- Define and improve monitoring, alerting, SLIs, SLOs, and application observability.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks and improve deployment and runtime processes.
- Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous reliability improvements.
Required Skills
- Strong experience supporting Java applications in production environments.
- Deep understanding of JVM internals, including memory management, garbage collection, heap/thread dump analysis, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS/GKE) from an application support and runtime perspective.
- Experience with application monitoring, logging, metrics, and distributed tracing tools.
- Good understanding of microservices, REST APIs, databases, messaging systems, and service dependencies.
- Experience with deployment strategies such as Rolling, Blue/Green, or Canary deployments.
- Proficiency in automation using Python, Shell scripting, or similar technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
