Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer QS - MEP to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Quantity Surveying within MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems for high-rise residential projects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management experience, and leadership capabilities to support the successful execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quantity Surveying: Prepare accurate MEP cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), and tender documents for high-rise residential projects.
- Conduct detailed measurements and take-off for MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Review and manage subcontractor quotations and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
- Cost Control & Budgeting : Develop and manage cost plans, budgets, and financial forecasts for MEP works.
- Monitor and track project costs against budgets, ensuring that costs are kept within allocated limits.
- Identify and resolve any issues that could lead to cost overruns, providing solutions to mitigate risks.
- Contract Administration: Manage contractual agreements for MEP works, including preparation of claims, variations, and payments.
- Ensure that all MEP works are completed in compliance with contractual terms, specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, and clients to resolve any contract-related issues.
- Procurement & Tendering: Lead and assist in the preparation of MEP tender documents, including scope of works, technical specifications, and procurement strategies.
- Assess and evaluate bids for MEP subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring the best value for the project.
- Site Coordination & Supervision: Monitor and report on the progress of MEP works at the site, ensuring that work is completed on time and to specification.
- Collaborate with project engineers, managers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of the MEP systems.
- Conduct site visits to assess work quality, material usage, and compliance with contract documents.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive records of cost estimates, change orders, procurement activities, and other project documentation.
- Produce regular reports on project status, financial performance, and forecasts to senior management.
- Team Leadership & Mentoring: Supervise and mentor junior quantity surveyors and support staff within the MEP team.

Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
- Experience: Minimum of 7-9 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, specifically related to MEP systems in high-rise residential construction.
- Experience in managing MEP works from design through to completion, including tendering, cost estimation, and contract management.
- Proven track record in high-rise residential projects is mandatory.
- Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and associated building services.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., Bluebeam, Cost X, or similar).
- Solid understanding of contract types (e.g., FIDIC, JCT, etc.) and the ability to manage complex contracts and procurement processes.
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and consultants.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
