Job Description
Role Summary:
As an L2 Network Engineer, you will manage and support enterprise-level network infrastructure with a focus on Cisco and Nokia routing and switching technologies. This role involves advanced troubleshooting, implementing network changes, performing migrations, and ensuring high availability and security of critical systems. You will work closely with L1 teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to maintain operational excellence and adhere to ITIL-based processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Network Operations & Monitoring
Monitor network performance using NOC tools and dashboards.
Respond to alerts, analyze logs, and resolve L2-level incidents promptly.
Perform proactive health checks and capacity planning to prevent outages.
Escalate unresolved issues to L3 or OEM support when required.
Oversee ticketing system and ensure timely resolution analyze ticket trends and generate SLA reports.
2. Routing & Switching
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco IOS and Nokia SR OS devices.
Implement and optimize routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, MPLS, RIP, EIGRP, IPSEC.
Manage Layer 2 technologies: VLAN, STP, EtherChannel, VTP, VDC, VPC.
Perform IOS upgrades and firmware updates for routers and switches.
Ensure redundancy and failover mechanisms are properly configured.
3. LAN/WAN & SD-WAN
Configure and operate routed LAN & WAN environments.
Perform network migration activities and infrastructure upgrades.
Deploy and manage Cisco/Nokia routers and switches as per project requirements.
Experience in SD-WAN deployment and management (Cisco preferred).
Understanding of Overlay and Underlay concepts and configuration templates in Cisco SD-WAN.
4. Incident & Change Management
Own the lifecycle of incidents from detection to resolution.
Execute approved changes following ITIL-based Change Management processes.
Document incidents, root cause analysis, and preventive measures.
Lead response and resolution efforts for major incidents impacting network services.
Conduct post-incident reviews and implement preventive measures.
5. Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with L1 engineers for escalations and knowledge transfer.
Coordinate with ISP vendors in case of link failures.
Collaborate with OEMs for P1 issue resolution.
Prepare detailed reports on network health, incidents, and performance metrics.
Required Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of Routing & Switching protocols (Cisco & Nokia).
Hands-on experience with Cisco ISR series routers, Nokia SR OS platforms.
Proficiency in OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VLAN, STP, QoS, and IPSEC configurations.
Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark).
CCNA certification (CCNP preferred).
Understanding of ITIL processes for Incident and Change Management.
Optional / Good-to-Have Skills:
Experience in Wireless operations and WLAN troubleshooting.
Knowledge of Network Security (FortiGate, Palo Alto, Checkpoint firewalls).
Exposure to DDI solutions (DNS, DHCP, IPAM).
Basic scripting knowledge for automation (Python, Ansible).
Educational Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
Certifications: CCNA/CCNP, Nokia NRS I/II, ITIL Foundation.

Ability to work under pressure and meet strict SLAs.
