Job Description

What You'll Do

  • Lead and execute mechanical design and development activities for Medium Voltage distribution products, including Switchgear, Transformers, Voltage Regulators, Capacitors, Network Protectors, and related electrical components.
  • Execute projects through all stages of the product development lifecycle, including concept development, detailed design, validation, industrialization, and sustaining support.
  • Apply DfX methodologies (DFMEA, DFMA, DFR, tolerance stack‑up, reliability) to ensure robust, manufacturable, and serviceable product designs.
  • Independently complete 2D drawings and 3D models using Inventor / Pro‑E (Creo) / AutoCAD.
  • Support and witness type and validation testing, including Temperature Rise, Fault Current, High Voltage, Mechanical Endurance, Impact, and Vibration testing, as per applicable standards.
  • Analyze test results and provide engineering judgment on design, material, or component changes and their impact on product performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Develop and support test plans in accordance with IEC / IEEE standards (e.g., IEC 62271 series).
  • Utilize strong knowledge of metals and plastics to propose alternative materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Provide engineering judgment on the impact of material or process changes from cost, testing, certification, and product performance perspectives.
  • Drive and support VAVE initiatives focused on cost reduction, localization, design simplification, and alternate manufacturing processes.
  • Lead or support production feasibility assessments, PPAP, and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Modify existing products through the formal Change Management process to meet customer, manufacturing, regulatory, and market requirements.
  • Support resolution of field, quality, and manufacturing issues using structured problem‑solving methodologies (DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis).
  • Ensure sustained product compliance and performance across the product lifecycle.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute complex engineering projects, ensuring on‑time delivery, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Collaborate with global, cross‑functional teams, including Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Testing Labs, and external suppliers.
  • Operate effectively in a virtual, global engineering environment and provide regular technical updates to stakeholders.
  • Develop direct reports by providing challenging assignments, technical coaching, and structured development plans.
  • Contribute to building a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement within the engineering organization.
