Job Description

NRT seeks an experienced Aerospace Structural Analysis Engineer to lead and execute, structural analysis and testing, using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the structural analysis team to conduct analysis of air vehicles and ground systems.
  • Discern the right level of analysis to apply to meet the requirements (static, dynamic, modal, thermal, inertia relief, aero-elastic, buckling, thermal for composite, metal and plastic components & assemblies).
  • Quantify and document load cases and environments.
  • Execute hand calculations and first-order models prior to undertaking detailed analysis.
  • Support the design, instrumentation selection, execution and data analysis of ground and flight tests to validate models and predictions, including static, dynamic, shock, and fatigue tests. Translate analysis/ test results into actionable design recommendations and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead trade studies and mass optimization efforts to improve the design.
  • Collaborate with other hardware engineering disciplines and guide design decisions based on analysis results.

  • Deep understanding of statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and materials properties (composites & other advanced materials).
  • Experienced using FEA software NASTRAN / APEX with a focus in NASTRAN solution sequences for linear and non-linear static, dynamic, buckling & aero-elastic analysis.
  • Structural testing experience (static, dynamic, shock) including sensor selection, data acquisition, and data post-processing.
  • Awareness of airworthiness certification requirements based on analysis and testing.

Good To Have Skills

  • Experience in structural analysis of unmanned aerial vehicles.
  • Experience in component and coupon level testing and analysis.
