Position Title: Senior Engineer - CAD, NPI
Department: NPI (New Product Integration)
Location: Kohler India Pvt. Ltd., Jhagadia, Bharuch, Gujarat
Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior CAD Engineer to play a key role in product development by designing and developing block molds and other CAD components. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, driving manufacturing input into NPD projects, and improving design efficiency using CREO Parametric software.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Development
- Utilize CREO Parametric software to develop 3D models and 2D drawings for product components, molds, and assemblies
- Conduct detailed engineering, feasibility analysis, and manufacturing reviews to optimize designs for efficiency and reliability
- Develop new mold designs for improved casting processes and higher productivity
- Support product launch by ensuring smooth design transition from CAD to production
Process Manufacturing Support
- Implement DFMA, FMEA, and design reviews to enhance manufacturability
- Collaborate with NPI Process Engineering, Modelling, CAM, Mould Making, Case Making, and Casting teams to address yield improvement opportunities
- Work closely with plant manufacturing teams to ensure robust production processes
- Support process engineers in establishing effective casting processes and reducing defects
Strategic Initiatives
- Leverage advanced CAD technologies to improve speed and accuracy in product modeling
- Drive design improvements to reduce defects and enhance product yield
- Work on casting technologies to optimize floor space utilization and production efficiency
- Participate in product innovation and industrialization efforts to maintain a competitive market position
Skills & Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Experience
- 5 to 8 years of experience in product design, CAD modeling, and mold development
Software Expertise
- Proficiency in CREO Parametric (mandatory)
- Experience with Windchill (PDM/PLM) for file management and version control
- Familiarity with 3D printing (added advantage)
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, GDT, and drafting standards
- Solution-oriented approach with problem-solving methodologies
- Ability to conduct statistical analysis for design improvements
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently while handling multiple projects
Reporting & Collaboration:
- Direct Reporting: CAD/CAM Leader
- Internal Stakeholders: NPI Process Engineering, Modeling, CAM, Mould Making, Case Making, Casting, Industrial Design, Product Engineering, and Global Vitreous Engineering teams
- External Stakeholders: Process equipment suppliers and material suppliers
